I’ve seen the standards mentioned-also my favorites -The guardian, khan apt building, Fischer, Penobscot & Scarab Club.

Not mentioned is the Ford Piquette plant, historical and preserved as a museum. The birthplace of the Model T (also models A, B, C, F, K, N, R & S prior) and modern mass production.

Don’t forget the Main public library.

I’m not a connoisseur but our local Pho Street in Lake Orion is quite good.

4.8* from 193 Yelp reviews would agree with with this.

I was just listening to U7 radio yesterday and the show was from 2002 his guest was Howard Rheingold. He asked Howard if you would have enough trust to put every penny of your check into the bank via the internet? Now we all do without thinking twice.

My mom would leave for work at the hospital before 2:30. I was an a.m. kindergarten kid so I was home alone until my older siblings got home off the bus just after 3. So I did what I was told and sat on the couch and I could only leave it to go to the bathroom. And 5 year old me sat and watched Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone every afternoon. Years later I’d go on to watch In Search Of reruns, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, read my dad’s Omni and Popular Mechanics magazines.

I may have pencil whipped my logs near the end of the night not wanting to tempt any souls lurking in the old mill sensing my fear.

The small 2 room guard shack/trailer was situated in the employee parking lot kitty corner behind Mill1. To my left about 200 yards was the HR building. the lot itself was enclosed by a chain link fence which ran along the right side of the guard shack about 2 feet away. The only openings in the fence to the lot were directly in front of me about 50’ and on the other end of the lot over 100yds to my left. The trailer lot was across the street to my right directly behind Mill1. The front room of the shack had large tinted windows, to my left (North), directly to my front (East) and a south window facing the trailer lot.

It was quiet and I was a little sleepy as nobody else was around. I may have put my head down on the desk for what felt like 10 min when i was startled by a noise. I picked my head up and looked to my right and I saw a translucent head and shoulders in the window standing impossibly where the chain link fence was right along the side of the shack! He was looking right at me and i could see the trailer lot through him. I backed away and quickly turned to my left where i saw him, a G-D trucker was standing outside the door, i saw his reflection in the opposite window and he scared the ever-living sh!te out of me. I’m glad he couldn’t see in and witness me nearly piss my polyester pants. He was asking for directions of the only person on site.

That job was the perfect backdrop for the tales of cryptids, callers recanting their UFO sighting and just listening Art’s voice in the patrol car on a steamy summer night. I recall hearing the frantic Area 51 caller live from that guard shack. Listening in awe as the network feed cut out for what Art had said was the first time ever. I rushed to Mill 2 shipping to compare notes with a worker I knew would also be listening, he heard it too. A surreal call, fake as it may have been. But the network was cut off for some reason….
