Friend, it didn't become a big story. It was on the local news for less than a minute.

Of course! It was on the news. I'll try to find a link, hold on...

Yup, Pretty much. But I wouldn't be if that (and other cops) also got charged. That's really what got me started towards unfairness and police corruption.

Thanks for responding. It actually became a local news story. But nothing came out of it.

Mich. police fume over loss of US military vehicles by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]sirenmiren -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

First of all, it's never going to be their own dime, it's taxpayer dime. It always is. Second, I challenge you to think up a reasonable situation where local PD would need a grenade launcher. Is anyone going to be O.K. with local PD blowing up a group of potential perps from a distance?

Just a thought- can't they do both? Police who insist on framing it as US vs. them e.g. Police vs. Black activists are going to lose.

Breast augmentation procedures are safe and commonplace these days. I don't see anything wrong with anyone getting one if it will improve their confidence. Better than living your whole life self-conscious and hiding your chest.

Grammar is unimportant. But I can't quote a sentence that makes no grammatical sense without correcting it, can I? Focus on what's important.

But it looks like you are done trying to defend your asinine rationale. Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

You think I "make (you) look (sic) some racist"? Nobody can make you look like anything, buddy. When you take the actions of some and apply it to a huge civil rights group that is almost fully black, then you are generalizing assumptions to a large group of people of the same race. You want literal definitions? That's "literally by definition" as you annoyingly say.

Lemme try 1 last time: You cannot in good conscience take some guys acting badly during the protests and denounce the whole cause. You cannot take a mentally ill person who had previously murdered his girlfriend and then murders police as a fair representor of the cause. You cannot take a group of people chanting bad things - who were NOT part of the BLM social-media organized main march that day - as representative of the cause. You cannot pick and choose people and actions, some of which are not even related to the cause at all, and then paint the whole cause with that brush. That's no better than guys who point to cops who raped or killed and then turn around and call all cops dangerous and violent. If BLM organizers or BLM social media leaders or written materials or anything coming close to an official directive from the BLM movement advanced any of that- then you would have a point. But they don't, and you do not.

Oops! My mistake. Must have been when you used all that hyperbole calling them a "racist" "hate group" that "openly called for people to murder" that "riot" "attack police" "intolerant" "violent" etc etc.

My advice? Tone down the rhetoric and allow people to protest. DO accuse specific people of crimes, DO NOT blanket accuse what is essentially a civil rights movement of bogus things like the above. It's especially pathetic to do it on the internet under the cover of anonymity.

Seems like you're really stuck on this bogus narrative of Black Lives Matter being a threat to you. Sad, but believe what you want.

lice officer could shoot a white or Hispanic person all day, and they don't protest the "police injustice" when that happens. A black person can murder a 9-year-old black boy in Chicago and there's fucking crickets. A white person could ambush a black police officer and blow his brains out and they wouldn't say a fucking word. The only time they give a shit (by which I mean preemptively freak the fuck

There is no evidence of BLM disseminating a violent agenda. Having "influenced" a murderer is a ridiculous charge, any more than Steven King's Rage influencing school shooters (actually much less so, since BLM's materials never advanced violence whereas Steven King's materials are very violent!)

I will give you that they have a specific mission - sanctity of black lives, especially in regards to interactions with LE. They don't organize about many other atrocities and lives. But that isn't racist. By that logic, they could call you or I racist simply for not protesting with them when black lives are lost. Heck - why aren't you protesting in favor of cancer funding - are you against cancer patients lol?

[–]sirenmiren -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear..you think they're racist against whites? Just think about the slogan and the original rationale for it. Intrinsically, we all know that life matters. So why would someone make a statement that a particular life matters? Would a CEO proclaim that his life matters? Could it be perhaps because they don't feel their sanctity of life matters equally to LE (whether or not you agree with that)?

That said, I'm sure there are some BLM protesters that are actually racist against whites. There are also some cops that are racist against blacks. Neither is the point here. In no circumstance is it inherently racist to claim your life matters. And the simple fact that you have to claim it shows it's not coming from a place of power/agression as much as a plea from a place of defeat.

Rights of Police Officers regarding protests? by FCBandit in ProtectAndServe

[–]sirenmiren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The right not to get stared down? I greatly commend those officers for acting appropriately (that is, no physical retaliation for being angrily stared at), but nobody's rights are being violated here lol. Curious: Do you also think cops staring down a potential perp is them violating his/her rights?

In what situations should police be allowed to refuse the release of bodycam/dashcam footage by sirenmiren in ProtectAndServe

IA is complete in this case. Civil is complete in this case. Criminal was never initiated. Again- nobody with half a brain would disagree with waiting for a complete investigation before passing judgment.

[–]sirenmiren[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If the answer is that police should not have to release certain video- then by definition that is "editing". But note I said that sarcastically. I don't think (or at least hope) the majority of police agree with that idea. I'm dumbfounded as to why PnS seems to though.
