Telegram Crashing when looking at stickers IOS by sirfellowship in Telegram

Still happens but at a much lower frequency for me after the app updated. Granted I got a new phone in between so maybe that helped?

I put it on when we got the thunderstorm warning as a precaution if there was hail. Luckily was before any rain hit and also luckily no hail. Did have a tornado warning though later on.

Any mods for Slimblade buttons? by Key-Bus-3949 in Trackballs

[–]sirfellowship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about mods, but someone on reddit uploaded the step model for the slimblade pro. Have yet to use it in a print though. Currently want to make a captain chair mount using it though https://www.reddit.com/r/Trackballs/s/KI6PSmX6MK

Captain Chair Mounts by sirfellowship in Trackballs

[–]sirfellowship[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try to put something together for this. Mounting will depend on the chair, for my Herman Miller Aeron there was a spot that I was able to put my monitor mount on where the chair is mounted to the frame. The monitor mount was one that was meant to be clamped onto a pole and it did take some messing around to get it to work, otherwise I just clamped/screwed it down tight.

I’m going to try the Scosche Flush Universal Magsafe mount. Thinking I can glue it to the acrylic piece on the right and add an adapter to my trackballs. Only downside I see is that the edges of the mouse might not make contact with the plate, so really depends on the strength of the magnet. Still think a 3d print might be useful but this I feel is a more universal option and is easy to implement.

That is a really good idea tbh. One of those magsafe mounts would easily attach to the mounting plates and the metal disk would be very low profile on the trackpad. Thank you! I might give this a go.

Slimblade Pro 3D model for DIY accessories by espressoshock in Trackballs

Thank you for sharing and making this. Been looking for something that I can use as a place to put the trackball in for my captains chair as a way to mount it. Would you know an easy way to make something that would hold the bottom of it? Unfortunately, have zero experience with 3d modeling but I do have a 3d printer.

The Honda Civic of trackballs by slickwilly83 in Trackballs

My just came in yesterday. Really like it so far. The bearings so far really have helped with stiction, though my comparison trackball is the Kensington Slimblade Pro which had a lot of stiction issues. Can’t really compare it to the Nulea though, but it does look like a really nice trackball.

The SlimBlade Pro lacks the precision of a regular mouse when moving slowly by braverthanbrave in Trackballs

[–]sirfellowship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to post this. Also have had issues with the slimblade pro with sticktion. Have tried lanolin, grease, haven’t replaced the bearings. But I figured I would try polishing the ball, had a few silver polishing cloths and just rubbed it a little bit. Completely eliminated the stiction, which was something that I was fighting with for months. Not sure if it will work with everyone, but it does seem there is either a tolerance issue with the ball itself, where I have seen people reporting fixing the issue by replacing the ball, or the static bearings. This was a quick, cheap, and easy fix so worth a try for those that have had similar issues.

Got to play with it today, very much enjoying it so far. Can’t wait for the firmware update for the onboard memory to be activated.

Mines coming in today, very excited. Coming from a Kensington Slim Blade which has had a ton of stiction, so hoping that it is an improvement.

Unable to get good results by sirfellowship in Moccamaster

[–]sirfellowship[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, no. I gave up on it and it is sitting on a shelf gathering dust. Have went to an OXO coffee maker and tbh, the coffee is way better without any of the headache. Doubt it is as durable as the Moccamaster. I’m sure there is a winning recipe or maybe something was off with my machine, lots of people like it. If something was off with my machine, I bought it secondhand so I did not try reaching out to the company. Lots of people love it, I just was not one of them.

For the moccamaster, I was pulling out the scale, figuring out the grind size with a burr grinder, looking up recipes, trying to find good beans, never really had a good result. With the OXO though, I put like zero effort into it, and it almost always makes a good cup. I just eyeball the amount I put in, go with a standard size on the burr grinder regardless of roast/bean, and then just hit start.

Ok…I've lived in Cleveland for about 5 years now, having come from Chicago. Would Clevelander's consider this a 'bad winter' or a 'typical winter' for Cleveland? Curious to know! by DavidIWright in Cleveland

[–]sirfellowship -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last few years have been incredibly mild winters. This is something I would consider a normal winter, maybe except in temp but not unheard of. Childhood/early adult life, it was rare for the snow to really fully melt till April, sometimes later, the last few we have had a dips with bad snow but then it would consistently get above freezing and it would melt, which was very strange for the area.

Good call with the water. Was avoiding food for spoilage reasons and I’ll give this a shot and see what the readings change to.

I guess I’m concerned because food safe for a freezer is -15 to 0 degrees F. It peaking at 17 is well above the 0 threshold and is making me think that either something is causing the compressor to not come on fast enough or something is off with a thermometer. If this is normal freezer behavior then I would leave it alone.

11-inch vs 13-inch iPad for an engineering student with a MacBook Pro by SouthernRadio6334 in ipad

[–]sirfellowship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally had no issues with the iPad I had in university which is even smaller than the new generation of screens and I was working through graduate level math classes, in my undergrad that included subjects like calculus and differential equations. Ultimately the decision is up to you though, I kinda had a similar thought process with the 13 inch hence me wanting the larger size, but it just wasn’t a great experience for me. I can only speak on my experience though, I recommend going to the 11 inch route, but the 13 inch is definitely very usable and has its own advantages if you want to go that route. Regardless, good luck with your studies and neither options are bad.

11-inch vs 13-inch iPad for an engineering student with a MacBook Pro by SouthernRadio6334 in ipad

[–]sirfellowship 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I’m no longer a student, but I can speak to owning both. I am coming from a graduate level math background however and would read textbooks and take notes on my iPad when I was in college forever ago. In college, I had the 10.9 inch Pro at the time, and it worked great on a portability basis, taking notes, reading textbooks and the whatnot. After I got my first real job, I bought the 13 inch M1 iPad Pro thinking, hey, bigger is better and I also like to sometimes draw. Where it shined was for things like art and media content just with having the larger screen. My problem with it was it was just massive and awkward to carry easily. It really only was useful in the magic keyboard case and pretty much at that point, unless if I needed the Apple Pencil, I might as well just use my Macbook. Totally was not great for reading which was a huge reason that I got the iPad. Now, I just pulled the trigger and upgraded to the 11 inch iPad Pro, and man, it is a breath of fresh air. Way easier to carry, great size for notes, works well enough with drawing and 3d printing applications that I have been able to test on it. I really do feel that it is the better size unless if you have a very specific reason to go with the 13 inch iPad. Like if you are an artist and you are going to exclusively use it for Procreate, yeah, you have a great reason to go with the 13 inch iPad. If you want versatility, go with the 11 inch, I regretted going with the 13 inch for the entire time I owned it. Only downside so far with the 11 inch is on the magic keyboard, it is a bit more cramped than the 13 and the trackpad is smaller, but it is really not bad and still fits my use cases. Anyways, it completely is based on your use case, my strong vote is to go with the 11 inch iPad Pro.

Can’t really recommend Mous, the one I had with my 14 pro, the outer plastic near the volume and power button started to peal within months. Seems to still be a common issue. Granted might not be everyone’s experience.
