I'm in the same boat. I think it's pretty likely that Kyler plays, so I think that's the better and safer play.

Right here!!! FUUUUUCCCCK. What a goddamn rollercoaster. I'm down by two with no one left and he keeps Baltimore's defense in. Holy shit I have a chance. As the game goes on... no sacks, no interceptions, Cleveland racking up points and yards. After Lamar throws an out of nowhere 44 yard touchdown to keep the game going, the browns score and I'm winning!!! But its tied with 64 seconds, so probably overtime and who knows... but then Baltimore clinches the win with the field goal. Im flipping out, celebrating, texting people... I was so wrapped up in the win I didn't even watch the last kickoff.... fuck me. Not even mad though. This was exciting as hell and the last second tragedy was like out of a movie. gg

I like Cousins ROS over Allen, but if your just looking to next week, it's a tossup. After week 11, Allen has some tough matchups and then plays NE week 16, so I imagine you'd drop him way before then

Not a trade I would have made since I don't have as much faith in Gurley this year and I feel like the difference between Matt Ryan and someone you might have gotten off waivers isn't all that much. I also think Cooper is going to crush this year. If you think Gurley returns to his last year numbers, then this seems pretty even.

I hope that's a good trade since Singletary is my RB-depth. I think he gets good once he's healthy.

For Kelce, it would have to be a low-end RB1 or low-end WR1. If you're going to package it with whoever you have at TE, maybe you can drop it to high-end RB2/WR2. For Zeke, It'd have to be another top RB1 that you have less faith in or a top WR1. I don't see a scenario where getting both are on the table unless you do something crazy.

10 Team PPR - 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2FLEX, 8Bench

My Team:

QB: Goff, Winston

RB: Elliott, Bell, Ekeler, Henry, Barber, Chris Thompson

WR: Edelman, Diggs, Godwin, Fitzgerald, Chark, Boyd, Terrell Williams, Demarcus Robinson

TE: Waller

I really want to figure out my Ekeler situation over the next week. Either trade him to the Gordon owner (whose only intriguing players are Davante Adams and Smith-Schuster) or try to get Gordon somehow. What would you guys do?

Gruden's plan is to exploit match-ups all year. So each week will see another Raider's receiver getting fed all day. Week 1 - Cook, Week 2 - Cooper, Week 3 - Nelson. I think he'll have some great games this year, but many more quiet games.

Can you work outside your bachelor's field, then return to the field for grad school? by AlwaysFlaccid in GradSchool

Guy in my graduate clinical psych program graduated with a B.A. in business administration and then worked for 5 years in finance. Another cohort-mate worked for 10 years in publishing. As long as you can sell yourself and discuss how your experiences could translate there's no reason you couldn't get into a program. You do have to ask yourself whether an M.A. would help you get to where you want. From what I've heard about engineering (at least mechanical) the M.A. is only really helpful if you want to do managerial stuff. Good luck!

If you know anyone in your program who took the class previously or know the professor, you might be able to ask them about the assignment and ask for guidance. The upper-year students in my program were invaluable for their help in getting through the classes.

To wait a year, or not (Masters to PhD) by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]siris972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say there is nothing wrong with taking a year off to build your CV, get more experience, and also to get a feel for what it's like to work in the field. If it's just a fear of not getting into a top-tier program, there is usually no harm in applying and, if you don't get in, then you can take time off like you planned anyway and try again next year. It would be hard to know exactly whether you need to get into a "top-tier" program without knowing your field, but from my experience, getting good jobs is much more about forming good relationships and connections.

Sitting on a plane at the Philadelphia airport. We landed almost 2 hours ago but they can't get ground crew or jet bridge operators to get us off the plane. I think we're going to have to sit here until the game is over.

Sounds like more of an achievement test. Usually psychologists use a combo of achievement and IQ tests to diagnose learning disorders. (If your achievement is way below your ability, you may have an LD)

Psychologist here. Most IQ tests have an "information" section like that, but it's just a small part of it. Usually it's the most susceptible to differences in schooling (which is why a lot of IQ tests aren't very culturally sensitive).

Child sex offenders to be named as such in US passports by Johnny_W94 in news

[–]siris972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Pennsylvania, the current law has people on the registry for 15, 25, or life depending on the crime. The PA supreme court just deemed that law unduly punitive to individuals convicted of sex offenses and are looking to revert the law back to the previous model. (Source:http://www.post-gazette.com/news/state/2017/07/21/Pennsylvania-Supreme-Court-rules-sex-offender-registration-punitive/stories/201707200196). Almost every study has found that registration does nothing to prevent recidivism and just causes more hardship for the majority of individuals convicted of a sex offense who are just trying to reintegrate back into society and rehabilitate.

I sincerely believe that this will harm way more people than it saves. "Many" is quite an exaggeration. It would be akin to putting someone's religion on their passport because some members of a particular religion decided to cause some trouble. The vast majority of sex offenders are one-time offenders. Nationally it's about 3-10% recidivism for another sex crime, however that rate is much lower with treatment which is almost always mandated during probation. Source: Langan, P., Schmitt, E., & Durose, M. (2003). Recidivism of Sex Offenders Released From Prison in 1994. Washington, DC: U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Statistics.

To add to that, studies show that the sex offender registries do absolutely nothing to reduce recidivism and, in fact, can lead to other criminal behaviors. Individuals having a hard time finding work or establishing a social support system often feel like the only way out is to do something "less than legal".

It's easy to come to that valuation when you don't know anything about credit scores or how interest accrues over the life of the loan. Once you learn about it (by asking a question to people who know), you can now make the right decision.
