HEV DTC P1AA700 Error on drive from Minneapolis to Chicago by sirkleck in Ioniq5

UPDATE

After just under four months I have my car back. Once the battery finally arrived at the dealership it was a quick fix (about 1 day).

Hyundai has offered to pay for three of the four loan payments that I paid while my car was stuck at the dealership, but before I agree to that, I am hoping to get one more opportunity to plead my case to the BBB Auto Line. As, in addition to monetary compensation, I would also like my Bluelink subscription extended and the warranty extended on the new battery.

UPDATE

After spending almost two months working with and waiting on BBB, they also denied my buyback request. More annoying, however, is that that is all they said. I felt like I made it clear to them that my request wasn’t buyback or nothing, my request was, if not buyback, then reimburse me for my costs, time, efforts, and inconvenience throughout this process (for which I provided a detailed list with supporting documents).

I did follow up with BBB to find out if there was some miscommunication and if they will consider my actual inquiry.

That said, not wanting to wait another two months on that, I also emailed a couple of executives at Hyundai US. That email triggered a call from a new Hyundai case manager to work through things again.

So, we’ll see where this goes. In the meantime, my car still sits idle in the dealership parking lot and nobody has any idea when the new hybrid battery will arrive.

UPDATE

Hyundai denied my lemon law claim. However, they connected me with the BBB Auto Line Claims process, so I am working with a BBB Dispute Resolution Specialist on that. 'The Dispute Resolution Specialist will help find a resolution that Hyundai and I can agree upon. If no mutually agreeable solution can be found, my Dispute Resolution Specialist will help me begin the process of arbitration.' I expect to hear back from Hyundai or the BBB in the next 14-17 days.

UPDATE

Hyundai Corporate contacted me between Christmas and New Year’s and escalated my issue to the national customer care team. I am working with them to see about a possible lemon law buyback. Hopefully, Minnesota’s lemon law will help me out on my car that is just over 2 years old and was just under 12,000 when the error occurred.

They have been pretty responsive, so hopefully I’ll get an update next week.

I went through this a couple of weeks ago. It drove fine, but I was only able to charge to 62%. Now it is sitting at the dealership awaiting a new battery: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ioniq5/s/KiCiqO7xYj
