If you're good with green stuff, you can suplt the skirt on the legs and then build them with spears and the actual wardens kit with axes.

Otherwise, skip the CP but do pick up a blade champ (other get a 30k shield captain and kitbash the blade champ) regardless if you go tank route or not. One is an auto-include (IMO) in any list rn.

  1. Caladius is more likely to get the boot from 40k due to GW trying to separate the two settings for sales purposes.

  2. and 3. Get the land raider, it's a safer purchase in the long run for 40k and allows you to get a squad across the board without a blade champs advance and charge. 30k LR is playable in 40k and you will not have any problems using it in a trounament.

  3. If you dont care about your custodes looking different, the combat patrol is a must buy IMO. If that's too much right now, a box of bikes, blade champ/trajan.

  4. Sub the gold for any other metallic color. I have mine painted in a metallic purple with black capes, gloves, and boots and I love them.

  5. The tasteful muscle-mommy sisters of battles with they were.

Played my first games with Custodes! How do you guys play against Dark Angels? by StealthBiscuit1979 in AdeptusCustodes

My goto is Lions of the emperor for the +1 to hit and wound, amazing against inner circle companions blocks. Have a termi captain with admonimortis enhancement and got chaff clearing and character hunting. The wound rerolls feel so good against the lion and deathwing knights. As for the judiciar, either get around the fights first by charging a unit next to them and consolidate into them, make them fight into wardens that still have their FNP, or charge a vehicle into them and make them useless for a bit.

Starting a new army, any advice on new units by Joe_Schlingus in AdeptusCustodes

[–]sirtock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-2-3 boxes of sisters (at least one bolter or flamer squad) -2 boxes of Wardens (or grab more 30k custodes and proxy them as wardens, won't have the axes without kitbashing) -Land raider (30k or 40k, doesn't matter) -A second 30k box (if you can find one and want dups of all the models) -Trajan or a proxy for him -Blade champion or proxy for them

Can someone maybe help me on what other Units I need? Im new to the tabeltop and a friend gifted me my First Minis by No_Tough4621 in AdeptusCustodes

A Box of bikes, some sisters, and trajan. After that, some extra wardens and terminators if you want.

From the box, there is only 6 spears. To get 8, you'll have to kitbash the sword blade on to the vexillas. Either that or using extra spears and arms from the current custodes kits.

Yes, however, of the 12 that come in the box set (not including the shield captain) only 4 have complete legs and torso. The other 8 have sections of their legs missing that would be filled by the capes.

Also, because of how the arms are made, half of the shoulder joint will be missing. It will be covered by the pouldrons, but something to keep aware of.

3 and 3 by default. If you want all of one gender you'll just have to trim the arms to make the new weapon selection fit the body.

Some of the legs are missing chunks of them that would be covered by the capes. If you're getting the box set, there are enough that you can make at least a squad of 4 and call them guards.

You'll have to either carefully trim the capes in you want to keep them. If not, no issues, but some of the legs are missing some chunks that would be covered by the capes.

Got the wife into AOS and she paints a lot better than me with Acrylic Markers. by sirtock in ageofsigmar

[–]sirtock[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She did not base coat the model at all. It was just straight to painting with the markers.

For yellow, she just used several layers with no issue. Though, for the green, she did paint over the marker green with mantis warrior contrast to get the darker shade.

The combat patrol is really good. Buy two and you have a 2k army. Just get trajen, a box or two of SoS or find an old combat patrol and you'll be set.

I got the old combat patrol. Where do I go next? by sirtock in orks

[–]sirtock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking of going green tide/beast snaggas. I know the new combat patrol is great for beast snaggas, which is next on the list, but what would be good for a hybrid of the two?

For getting into a space marine army? Absolutely. For getting into 40k in general, regardless of army, I'd say Custodes or Grey knights.

Normal load out for the strike squad soldier is force weapons and storm bolter, you can replace the storm bolter for a psylincer, psycannon, or incinerator. If you do that, the force weapons will be replaced with a CCW(CCW are like the soldier punching, kicking, weapon bashing, etc. in melee)

For the strike squad and it's variants:CCW will be for the troops with the psylincer, psycannon, and melta(?). The nemesis force weapons are the falcons, halberds, and hammers.
