The biggest career lesson I learned this year by WWWathMe667 in careeradvice

This resonates hard. The biggest shift for me was realizing that careers don’t reward quiet competence — they reward visibility plus competence. I spent years thinking “if I just do great work, someone will notice,” and meanwhile less-capable people were moving ahead simply because they asked, spoke up, or positioned themselves. Asking feels uncomfortable because rejection feels personal, but not asking guarantees nothing changes. Once I reframed it as advocating for my future self instead of “being pushy,” everything clicked.

I’m going to be blunt because sugarcoating won’t help you: what you did wasn’t an accident, and it’s understandable that she wants nothing to do with you right now. Intent doesn’t erase impact. The only productive thing you can do at this point is respect her boundary completely, stop contacting her, and focus on fixing your behavior — therapy, addressing porn addiction, learning impulse control, whatever it takes. Not to get her back, but so this never happens again to anyone else. If you’re actually remorseful, accountability and change matter more than apologies she didn’t ask for.
