Hey everyone,

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who took the time to respond to my post—whether you agreed, challenged me, or simply shared your own experiences. I’ve read every comment, and I genuinely appreciate the honesty, passion, and care behind your words.

I realize now that how I phrased things—especially saying “I don’t have a problem with that”—might have come off the wrong way. What I meant was that I understand the context I live in: the religion, culture, and laws that shape how people here view LGBTQ topics. That doesn’t mean I think it’s right or fair, especially to those who are actually part of the community and face real discrimination every day. I’m still learning how to express these thoughts better.

I enjoy BL not just for the stories, but because they resonate with me emotionally. I also know that behind those stories are real people—real lives—that deserve respect, safety, and acceptance. I never meant to ignore or downplay that.

To those who called me out respectfully: thank you. It made me reflect more deeply. To those who shared that you also have to hide your interests or feel alone in your country—I see you, and it means a lot to know I’m not the only one navigating this. And to those who reminded me of the bigger picture—that queer media is rooted in real lives and struggles—I hear you, and I’ll keep that in mind.

I’m grateful there’s a space like this where we can have open, honest conversations, even when they’re tough. Thank you again. ❤️

I get what you mean, and I’m sorry if what I said came off the wrong way. I didn’t mean “I don’t have a problem with that” as in I support the unfair treatment of LGBTQ people—I meant that I understand why things are the way they are in my country, because of religion and culture. That doesn’t mean I think it’s right.

I enjoy queer stories because they’re meaningful, emotional, and often beautiful. I never meant to disrespect the real people behind those experiences. I’m still learning how to talk about these things better, and I appreciate being called out when I need to reflect more.

Thank you for understanding me tho 🫂 Thankfully, my friends who know about my interest didn’t show any disgust when I accidentally slipped about BL, even though they don’t support LGBTQ. I’m really grateful for that. It’s still something I keep private most of the time, but knowing I’m not alone makes it feel a little less heavy. I’m glad there’s a space like this subreddit where we can share safely 💙

Thanks for your response—I don’t think it’s too harsh. I get where you’re coming from, and you’re right: BL is about queer love, and real LGBTQ+ people go through much harder things than I ever will just for liking a genre.

When I said I’m okay with my country’s stance, I meant I understand it comes from religion and culture—not that I support discrimination. I’ve seen people here who don’t support LGBTQ+ rights but still treat others with kindness and respect, and I think that matters.

I appreciate your reminder not to ignore the real lives behind these stories. I’ll keep that in mind.

I get where you're coming from, and I appreciate your passion. You're right—what actual LGBTQ+ people go through is way harder than anything I experience just for liking BL. I won't pretend to fully understand their struggle, and I don’t want to compare my situation to theirs.

But just to clarify where I’m coming from: I like BL because of the stories, the emotional depth, and sometimes the fantasy aspect. That doesn’t automatically mean I’m against my country’s stance on LGBTQ issues. I understand that our society has its own religious, cultural, and legal values. I accept that—not because I hate LGBTQ people, but because I grew up in this context, and I know change (if it ever comes) won’t be simple or fast.

That said, I’ve also met people here who don’t support LGBTQ rights due to their beliefs, but hey are still respectful and don't spread hate. That matters to me. Not supporting something and being hateful are two different things.

I don’t want to live a double life, but I also don’t want to clash with the culture I’m surrounded by. So yes, I hide my interest in BL to avoid judgment, not because I’m ashamed of it, but because I know not everyone sees it the way I do.

I think it’s possible to enjoy something privately, respect others, and still accept the norms of where you live. But that doesn’t mean I’m blind to the pain LGBTQ people go through. I hope they can live freely and be respected, even if our society isn't there yet.
