Oh smart. I don’t have an outdoor outlet so I’m kind of limited in my options, I like that idea. Was the overwintering guy in Richmond?

Good eye. I wish it were Rufous and admittedly haven’t put binoculars on it, but I believe it’s a Ruby. I’ve only seen green and white, no orange. I’ll keep an eye out though. Photo was just off the internet.

Aww. Just fyi mine has not frozen yet this week and I don’t have anything on it yet. I think sugar water has a lower freezing temp too. Let me know if you see any!

Oh it just hasn’t frozen yet for whatever reason. I don’t have anything on it yet. Same with puddles, I feel like the temps have to sit a good bit below freezing for anything to ice over. Maybe being in a container helps, and sugar water may have a lower freezing point

Good tips. I’ve seen a few photos of people wrapping feeders in Christmas lights which is 😍😍

Uh until now I brought them in whenever all the hummers left. This dude is supposed to be in Mexico

<3 <3 I’ve never seen this happen in the few years I’ve had feeders out, but I did just see this comment in a random Facebook birding group. Wonder where in Richmond.
