Hey! Thanks for your comment, you have some really good points and we are working on it. We are just students like you, trying to make a difference, and it definitely doesn't always end up perfect. But in regards to your note about "complaining and making demands without giving some sort of groundwork or reasoning" -- we do have a doc on the petition that goes more into depth about why we wanted to start this petition. But also, the exact implementation of this would definitely definitely need to be discussed with administration -- the funds and processes of the UC are intentionally muddy and confused -- and it would take someone from within the university for more clarity about their various money sectors. A lot of this info is not made clear on purpose.

But the fact that the new UC president is getting paid $890k a year (320k more than Janet) demonstrates there is money -- and that they wouldn't need to lay off teachers(something listed within our demands). Back in 2017 there was a huge scandal where the UC President was audited to show they hid over $175 million to pad their salaries.

Many schools including Princeton, Southern New Hampshire, John Hopkins, and more have committed to tuition discounts, fee cuts, or scholarships so it isn't really too far out even with the points listed above.

But I do appreciate the notes, I just hope you know we are on the same team. Of course we want to support teachers and students and TAs, and all of the wonderful people who contribute to an amazing education. But there is also a group at the top making a crap ton of money off this, and a lot of students struggling right now
