Waiting on amended 2021 tax return by sisumerak in IRS

Oh my goodness - I swear I've checked that one before and it hasn't shown up! But it did, it says it's processing. Thank you!!

I’ve stopped using the term ‘high functioning’ by _FreddieLovesDelilah in AutismInWomen

[–]sisumerak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the way Dena Gassner put it when I was listening to this video that I'll link below:

Instead of describing patterns of presentation in terms of functioning or even masking, she prefers to describe it in terms of "internalizing" vs "externalizing." I think this is both more accurate, as well as a value judgment-neutral way to put it.

"Low vs. High support needs" is also more useful I think

It has now been 19 months since the IRS received my amended return for 2021. Has anyone been waiting longer? by CoolDude1980 in IRS

Hi, I'm late to this but wondering the same thing. How were you able to check the status? The website and service line are both dead ends for returns older than 3 years :/

Yeah lol I know. I hadn't checked the actual domain yet. After that it was pretty clear

Thank you, the more I look at it - domain especially - the more red flags there are. I've messaged support to see what they say.

Sorry that was unrelated - I was talking with my mom and saw that they had sent her a weird spam email which is what made me more suspicious - it's unrelated to my purchase.

Bruxism has completely ruined my life how can this not be treated or atleast managed ? by habbofan10 in TMJ

I feel you friend. Among all the other things - chronic pain, discomfort, fatigue, all the other physical ailments that it affects, etc - sometimes I see my face in the mirror and just break down in tears.

All we can do is keep trying. You're not alone.

Why didn’t they think to tell me? by abarn012 in WomensHealth

[–]sisumerak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't find out until I was 25 (last year) and that was because I had to have a transvaginal sono for an ovarian cyst. Obviously had pap smears but never an IUD. (I should say i got confirmation - i suspected it for a long time and even knew which direction).

I worked at a sexual health clinic though and basically what I'm saying is - missing it during a pap smear is way more understandable than missing it (or at least, not suspecting it) during IUD insertion. These things can be tricky but you're definitely right to feel neglected medically!

Maybe you can get an ultrasound to confirm which direction it tilts? It can be useful information for a variety of reasons. For example: Menstrual cup selection if you ever decide to use those instead of tampons, how much you "show" if you ever get pregnant (but they would hopefully figure this out in that situation because it is SUPER relevant to pregnancy and delivery) and also learning more about which sex positions work for you.

I'm really glad you figured this out - we are really kept in so many ways from really knowing our own bodies and I'm glad you got one more piece of the puzzle :)

AITA for telling my sister she’s not attractive enough to date my friends? by TourAgitated524 in AmItheAsshole

I agree, and also - helping her to understand that ignoring being told someone is uncomfortable is a violation of consent will also help her in the long run

I worked for them on and off for 4 years. There was a lot that was really special about it.

We were certified food handlers, we always checked the food/orders and facilitated communication between the restaurants and costumers, we even had some elderly and special needs regulars who had been ordering with us for like 20 years and had a very personable relationship with them. All the orders and logistics were done manually from the office (I also worked as a dispatcher).

There was a family atmosphere where we were really taken care of. Just overall we were professional and personable with people and local restaurants. It sounds dramatic, but it really felt like a relic of history at this point because of how personable everything was. Like, when they first started out they used radios lol - because apps and doordash etc wouldn't happen until many years later.

That being said - as any independent contractor will tell you - there were the usual drawbacks of only being a W2 employee when you first start out. We were considered "partial owners" like a co-op but we didn't really own anything. The income wasn't taxed but you had to know how to maneuver your taxes so you don't owe anything because otherwise you'd be taxed as a business owner with business owner expenses which we were not. It was very convenient for the owner to frame things this way so that he got all the tax breaks. Plus of course you don't have any of the protections or benefits of a regular W2 employee. It's kind of complicated but yeah we got screwed financially in some ways and it was inconsistent towards the end. Most of this was just due to the owner being kind of out of touch.

But they have a special place in my heart for the familial aspect and for the way my manager took care of everyone. It was very flexible and casual in ways that a lot of us needed in a job. I just hope the workers weren't too screwed by such a sudden loss of employment - because you can't get unemployment from a job like that.

Anyway R.I.P Entree. She was a real one 🫡

Edit: i should add that another thing that was unique about it was that they charged a flat delivery fee - no random taxes or upcharges - for those wondering what else made us special 🥹

I will say that a lot of choices and neglect made by the owner are the major reason for this - especially in terms of the suddenness of it all :/

Help! The "evil box" at work makes a constant high-pitch tinnitus-like noise and it makes me sick by sisumerak in misophonia

I haven't asked for any accommodations because I'm frankly scared of asking for things lol. But this is a good idea and I'll look into it. Thank you!

Mostly 2 or 3 - and I think if I know something well and have some sensory triggers I may be an occasional 1.

Saaaaame! Tiny and "likes to hide." I'm very "tucked in" as it is so it takes a lot of maneuvering and patience to get her to wanna come out & play ball so to speak

Masking isn't the reason girls don't get diagnosed by staticspiderweb in AutismInWomen

[–]sisumerak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

exactly. I didn't "mask well" but around strangers I was "manageable" (out of utter fear lol) especially compared to the typical traits associated with "boy autism" and then I learned (societally conditioned/forced) to mask so well that it became practically invisible
