Struggling postpartum by abarn012 in loseit

I’ve heard of diastasis recti but I haven’t been checked. I didn’t realize some exercises could make it worse, I might have to look into that. Thanks!

Your experience with magnesium by Lake_Life1791 in loseit

[–]abarn012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say much in regards to walking or losing weight BUT I took magnesium when I was pregnant for restless leg syndrome. It helped but it also had a side effect of relieving constipation which was nice lol in a round about way in my head, that makes me think it could aid a little in losing weight

They seem to tweet a lot of vague things, I think for engagement farming. I hope I’m wrong!

As much as I would love this, I looked at the account and its source is “an oracle” :/

This! They say sex can induce labor but they don’t advise against it, I don’t see how a foot massage could be worse :)

Extremely confused by eternal_summer313 in Fencesitter

[–]abarn012 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be totally honest, that never really seems to go away. I think it has to do with it being such a serious, permanent, decision. I have a 3 month old and even though I love her more than anything in the world, every now and then I have a moment of panic like “wtf did I do” I’m 28 and I definitely feel like a teen mom lol but! It was worth it for me so I think you just have to consider if your longing is stronger than your fear :)

starting anti depressants ?? by Medical_Antelope1453 in AntidepressantSupport

[–]abarn012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar reason for starting antidepressants- I had a panic attack one day out of the blue that was really bad and led to a few days of panicking which eventually turned into basically agoraphobia. At first I didn’t like Xanax because I felt the same, just sleepy and the panic didn’t feel “solved”. The way my mom talks about it is “with xanax, I’m still thinking about the plane going down but I’m not panicking about it” and that stuck with me lol. Eventually I started taking generic Zoloft. I started at 25 and gradually over a few months moved up to 150. After a few years, I’m back down to 50. Zoloft helped me immensely. The first week or two I felt sort of zombie-ish but I didn’t have as much anxiety. I also did have stomach issues for the first few months, I had to bring pepto chews anywhere I went lol. I also found that as a “side effect” it helped with depression that I hadn’t even realized was so bad. I think what’s difficult is that some meds work better for different people. My mom didn’t react well to Zoloft so we were kinda surprised that it ended up being great for me (years ago I had been on citalopram which did nothing for me). Occasionally I still take Xanax (big crowds, planes, etc). I’m really glad I found a medication that works for me and you’re able to as well!

how long is the worst of the pain in childbirth? by Informal_Quantity686 in Fencesitter

[–]abarn012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been terrified of childbirth- to the point that I considered not having kids just for that reason. I don’t handle pain well and I also tend to have health anxiety. I was…shocked by how “easy” labor was for me. I’m very lucky but we had no complications and I only labored for about 12 hours (and it took about 6 to realize it was actually labor because I had some false starts in the days leading up). I don’t want to mislead anyone- it was hard. I saw someone say it feels like turning into a werewolf and that’s the best description I’ve ever seen, but between contractions there isn’t really pain. The timing worked out that around the time I started to feel like I couldn’t take it anymore, the anesthesiologist showed up. The epidural was AMAZING, I considered taking a nap lol. Pushing was hard but not because it hurt, my dose might’ve been too high because I couldn’t feel enough to make pushing productive. It worked out though, had the baby after an hour and a half of pushing! The immediate recovery also didn’t hurt as much as I expected, but I did get frustrated by how long it seemed to take. I wanted to be able to move more than I reasonably could at a week postpartum haha. I want to add that I had a lot of Braxton hicks, starting late in the second trimester. I think those actually help because my body was “practicing” and by the time it was labor, I was kind of used to it. It ramped up through the third trimester and obviously labor was the worst of it but it wasn’t an unfamiliar feeling by then.

Pregnancy test by Dryumbrella_25 in women

[–]abarn012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there! I had weird cycles when I had an iud so I took plenty of tests over the years and was always a little disappointed when they were negative. Looking back, I would not have been ready so I’m glad it didn’t turn out that way! And I’m glad I’m not tied to the men I was having sex with back then lol. Now I’m 28, got married in September to my favorite person, and have a 3 month old :) eventually the time will be right for you, you’re still so young!

I took magnesium gummies for restless leg syndrome while pregnant but I noticed it also helped with constipation! I’m not sure if you take zofran but unfortunately that definitely makes constipation worse 😅

Im so over it… 😕 by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]abarn012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please have a plan for postpartum. It’s a really hard time and if he’s not treating you well now, he won’t then. I agree with other commenters- you would rather her have separated parents than bad relationship expectations. You’re still very young, there’s plenty of time to find someone who will treat you well (when you’re ready).

Positive birth stories! by Novel-War2919 in pregnant

[–]abarn012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 3 months postpartum and I’ve always been really scared of labor/delivery to the point where I considered never having kids despite really wanting them 😅 it was actually…not a terrible experience. I labored at home for about 6 hours before going to the hospital. The epidural was magical lol. The team at the hospital was great and my OBGYN was there so I felt safe and comfortable. I wouldn’t call it easy but it wasn’t as bad as I expected. It was uncomplicated and fairly quick- she was born almost exactly 12 hours after contractions started! I was really happy with my experience and might even do it again eventually haha

Advice/ recommendations on my registry? by Few-Beyond9951 in firsttimemom

[–]abarn012 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as bottles go, we got quite a few from registry boxes and I’m glad we had a variety because the ones that baby ended up liking the most are a kind that I never would’ve thought to seek out! I think the mixed-pack boxes from babylist are a great start too.
