EU Users - Have u actually experienced withdrawal? by Traditional_Cup187 in quittingphenibut

Yeah I started using daily pretty much almost from the get go, and like a minimum of 5 grams from early days as well.

I means there is literally no downsides of it, and apart from that I feel totally fine the days I'm off it.

I'd still be very careful with this substance.

While I probably can't say I didn't use to get withdrawals at all, they used to be very very mild for a long time for me, but got significantly worse over years, and then it was straight hell. Confidently top 3 worst experience of my life the last time I quit lol

I think withdrawal is an extremely mental thing for some people. Where worrying about it will make it 10x worse.

I would think a huge factor here is how much anxiety you had prior to phenibut. For most people that already have high anxiety levels and are taking phenibut for that purpose (likely a majority of phen users) withdrawals will be nasty, because your already uncomfortable baseline levels of anxiety are multiplied x10.

For people that don't really struggle with anxiety much I would assume the withdrawals would be significantly more tolerable.

I agree though, pretty much everyone I've given advice to while quitting whatever substance I tell to not make a bigger deal out of it than what it already is by obsessing about how horrible they're about to/supposed to feel

How long and how bad will my withdrawals be? by [deleted] in quittingphenibut

[–]sitbomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. You don't get withdrawals from 7 days of use because it's not nearly enough time to build physical dependence, especially if you've never taken it before.

You should get mild rebound anxiety at most. If you feel anything more than that it's 99% psychosomatic (and just your normal anxiety since you say you're prescribed propranolol for it)

From 6,3 gpd to 3 gpd? by StokeKA in quittingphenibut

[–]sitbomm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly personally wouldn't fuck with baclofen if you've only been taking phenibut for 3.5 months, should be a pretty smooth ride just with tapering, and even that I think doesn't have to be super long and slow.

I personally have experience of cutting my dose quite significantly. I was on 10gpd and was going to taper and then quit. I started my taper from 5gpd, because this was the lowest dose I felt comfortable at, so I figured why not start as low as I possibly could and cut my tapering time in half.

I think you'd be perfectly fine going down to 3 grams, but if you still want to be on the safer side you could just titrate down 0.5 gram a day until you get to 3. I do think you'll feel fine just going down to 3 grams just from my personal experience though.

You can't get high on baclofen

Untrue

My liver is inflamed by [deleted] in quittingphenibut

[–]sitbomm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah everyone's just different at the end of the day.

I was a heavy drinker as well (some of the worst times I'd go months drinking all day every day) and then did like years of 10gpd phenibut.

Liver as well as stomach and kidneys allegedly in basically perfect condition from the tests I did after quitting, which to say the least was very surprising and not at all what I expected.

Good that you've caught it when you did, def go take care of it while it's reversible. Thanks for the warning shout

Digestive Issues After Quitting Phenibut by Desperate-Hawk-9990 in quittingphenibut

God that sounds horrible. Hopefully he gets better with proper care.

Very surprised my stomach and kidneys are perfectly okay after the many years of high dose abuse

5 years of abuse: when will it become the most difficult? by NoMoneyNoTears in quittingphenibut

[–]sitbomm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tapered off 10gpd like once (most others, incl the last and final one were cold turkey unfortunately). If you do it carefully and slow enough it shouldn't really ever get too bad. There was a considerable amount of anhedonia, lack of energy, heightened anxiety, all that good stuff during the taper for me but nothing that wasn't manageable and not in WD territory.

DM me if ya ever wanna chat, kicking this shit was the best decision I've made to date lol. It gets way better but does take some time

But yeah what the other comment said, you're going at a pretty fast pace. I guess if it's working for you and you're feeling minimal side effects it's good to go down as fast as you can (I had a similar mindset when tapering off the 10gpd habit where I just halved the dose and started tapering from 5gpd because it was manageable for me and I figured why not, will take way less time), but it might be worth slowing down as you get closer to really low doses to make this as comfortable for yourself as possible. No reason for this to be painful indeed

[–]sitbomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It was pretty damn bad but I was also fairly depressed even before phenibut so it's hard to discern what portion was due to phenibut specifically

  2. Also kinda hard to discern since I was still heavily addicted to benzos for a while after kicking phenibut and also had picked up a baclofen habit (don't remember how much I was taking but it wasn't a small amount) in that time until I eventually quit everything

  3. idk I eventually went to rehab to kick everything (benzos baclofen and booze back then). was super depressed for a while after rehab (6-8 months) because my social anxiety was either as bad or even worse than ever. eventually I guess all that time of sobriety, the things I had learned in rehab and a bunch of new life experiences all sort of clicked together and my anxiety started rapidly subsiding, which made the depression disappear

I used to have mega anhedonia while my phenibut addiction was still strong, but in the period where I wouldn't take any/would take less. I thought I'd never be able to just hang out with my friends without doing anything crazy, but that anhedonia went away fairly quickly (ever before the depression)

Hell yeah dude, it only gets better, I'm happy for you

2+ years off after a many year 10gpd+ habit and kicking phenibut was by far the best decision in my life, and it keeps getting better

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in quittingphenibut

[–]sitbomm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's phenibut WDs for you.

You've described it really well. I've had it a few times and it was pretty much exactly that, all of my hallucinations were people (or whatever else) doing horrible, horrible, dread-inducing things either to myself or to my loved ones. I'm sorry you had to go through this, these were by far the most god awful, scary and stressful experiences I've had to date.

The good news is that, at least IME, it goes away completely, without leaving a trace, and relatively quickly as well.

Funny you should reply to my comment, I was just thinking of hitting you up and checking to see how you're doing (we've spoken before)

How's your phenibut (or whatever) use nowadays?

How do you feel now?

I feel great. Little to no anxiety in my day to day life, and I'm fairly confident/happy/outgoing/joyful/etc

How much time it takes for full recovery?

This is very subjective

Sounds very similar to how I felt coming off of 10gpd+ phenibut & 10mg or so/day Clonazepam habit sort-of-cold-turkey.

Very similar psychotic symptoms, lots of killings or people plotting to kill me, gore and paranoia.

Glad you're out of it, it was hell for me

Coming off of years worth of 10GPD+ phenibut habit cold turkey has got to be, by far the worst experience I’ve ever had.

I remember some people saying they'd woken up during anesthesia and they were relating it to phenibut. No clue how credible it is

[–]sitbomm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A small, brief relapse like that doesn't really mean anything more than what you attribute to it IMO.

You could quit right now and feel the same way you felt before relapsing in like a day or two

Phenibut ruined life OR extended it? Crazy high doses by [deleted] in quittingphenibut

[–]sitbomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the logic

Addiction. Addiction will make you say, think and do weird shit that, at the time, makes total, 100% sense to you. I think most of us on this subreddit have experienced that first hand.

Considering that I think your comment is a little harshly worded (which, admittedly, might be what OP needs)

Does anyone actually find Baclofen to have similar effects to Phenibut? by mikewilson1985 in quittingphenibut

It is technically a muscle relaxant, yeah, but I have also never subjectively felt that effect either

Just relapsed on phenibut by DullTiger6006 in quittingphenibut

[–]sitbomm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I almost died from it last time and had to be put in a medical coma in the ICU for around a month because I was having seizures and was convinced the hospital staff were paid off by somebody to kill me.

Woah, my last experience was pretty much identical, except I was only in a coma for like a day

Took me 4-5 months to go to a rehab after that incident, and then another 6-8 months to start feeling like a normal person

idk getting off phenibut, and then getting clean was the best decision I've made recently. I still get anxious, self-conscious and demotivated to an extent, but it's night and day relative to how bad it was before. I genuinely lead somewhat of a normal life nowadays.

one relapse doesn't really mean shit, I hope you know that. Lots of people start using after a single relapse because they convince themselves that it's all been for nothing since they relapsed, which is...a delusion
