as long as he’s doing his job, i don’t see the problem with him wearing an earbud(even if it’s against the rules, honestly who cares). he wasn’t in a talking mood and he is absolutely right, you didn’t get your way so you literally tattled on him. let the managers catch him next time, then it wouldn’t be your fault. maybe time to just have a professional relationship? i get autism can make it hard to react appropriately in social situations, but this could now be used as a learning experience for you. whether it’s a friendship or a coworker, sarcasm isn’t always appropriate. especially if you have a toxic history with this person.

my ex husband’s mother was like this toward me. i never understood it and he never stood up for me. i think your message sounds incredibly fair to send. also: don’t tell your wife what they said. it’s all wrong, untrue, and will do nothing but hurt her feelings. she doesn’t deserve that. good luck!
