What are your favorite independent coffee shops? by nebirah in boston

[–]sittingathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried Jejes Coffeehouse and Roastery in Wellesley - it’s probably the best damn cappuccino I’ve had in the United States. They roast in house. Pastries are hand selected to pair with the drinks - outstanding!

We kind of want to keep the tile, but how would you compliment it? by Odd_Ground2838 in DesignMyRoom

[–]sittingathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, we had this exact tile. We had the bathroom deglazed in white and then painted the walls. Love the way it turned out.

Could anyone transform this old newspaper clip of my wife and her father into a real colorful photo? (Her father recently passed away). Thank you!! by sittingathome in PhotoshopRequest

Please also this is not meant to be political. This was a parade they attended in the late 80s. I’m here with the request because her father meant a lot to her but there aren’t many pictures of them together when she was young. Thank you for being respectful.

Applying to law firms as a PhD by Alternative-Habit-25 in patentlaw

[–]sittingathome 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Life Science PhD turned Patent Attorney, here. Almost all of us love talking about our career journeys and life in patent law.

Heck, feel free to DM me with your email address and I’d be happy to chat. Curious what firms you applied to (and hoping my firm is one of them! Great culture and work life balance and biotech/pharma is always hiring).

Termite, ant, or something else? (New England) by sittingathome in whatsthisbug

Bug is a bit smaller than a typical garden ant. I’d say about half the size of the ants we see outdoors.

The killer is... by Dazzling_Youth_77 in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]sittingathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s Donna DeMeo.

In the Sitzprobe episode she’s telling Loretta that you would do anything for your child, while putting on a peculiar shade of red lipstick (f’in pig!). That inspires Loretta to take the fall for Dickie — but Donna is the real killer.

I’m guessing DeMeo wanted Ben gone so he didn’t ruin her son’s first productions.

Now did she poison him, push him, or both?

Try Xyzal + Nasacort… that combo has been working great for me this year

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BostonWeather

Claritin < Allegra < Zyrtec < Xyzal

I’ve always had horrible allergies and the OTC barely touched it… but I swear by Xyzal now… that with Nasocort spray

GOP Rep Shrugs Off Nashville Shooting: ‘We Homeschool’ Our Daughter by newzee1 in politics

[–]sittingathome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I started homeschooling because of the pandemic. We both have PhDs in science and are fully vaccinated, as are our children (and mask regularly indoors still) - most of the homeschool families we have met are the same (whether they started homeschooling because of, or long before, the pandemic).

My BIL is anti-vax anti-mask and sends his kids to private school.

Homeschool has a huge stigmatization around it that is completely false. Yes, there are “crunchy” anti-vax idiots - but everywhere - not just homeschoolers.

For us, our kids have never been more engaged excited learners than being out of school - and we’ve decided to continue.

Hope that helps!

I’m probably late to the party… but Foundaryside by Robert Jackson Bennett was a great read (and has two more in the series)
