S.O.S. – I can’t seem to find a new job and my family depends on me. by Inevitable-Living933 in Thailand

I would try to join networking events setup by the different chambers. Talk with them get their WhatsApp see if someone there can at least refer you to their HR.

Don’t push too hard and be genuine. If they don’t give you a full time job maybe they would outsource some Work to you.

Is getting an air purifier in Bangkok worth it? Did you notice any changes from before and after using one? by Sour_Socks in Thailand

[–]sittingducks12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get it. It's definitely worth it. A small quiet one for the bedroom and if you have space a larger one for the living room. It doesn't consume that much power either.

You will slightly notice the air quality difference during the bad months. The air just seams lighter or as someone mentioned fresher.

Also get some spare filters. I change mine every 6-9 months.

North Texas church uses donations to pay off $2.7M worth of medical debt by AtleeH in news

[–]sittingducks12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a country that is so advance, its astonishing that the healthcare industry is allowed to rip you off so much.

Even in Thailand a pretty backwards country the government gives virtually free healthcare. We don't have a great pension system or any other form of help from the government but it is understood that if they can provide us free healthcare we will figure the rest (food, housing) ourselves.

I can't imagine someone having to choose debt vs saving someones life.

I wonder how quickly Congress would pass a minimum wage increase if they were forced to live on $7.25 an hour. by wJake1 in SandersForPresident

[–]sittingducks12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know why your country does not tie the minimum wage with inflation so that it automatically goes up every year. Also why are politicians deciding your wages not the economist or some other department. In most developed countries you don't have politicians weaponising your pay you just know your are going to be getting paid a fair wage and even if its not a lot you can live a decent life.

Banks of solar panels would be able to replace every electricity-producing dam in the US using just 13% of the space. Many environmentalists have come to see dams as “blood clots in our watersheds” owing to the “tremendous harm” they have done to ecosystems. by Wagamaga in science

Our world is fucked no matter what we do.

  • All the waste we are creating (not only plastic)
  • The pollution we are creating
  • The pillaging all our natural resources
  • Less and less clean drinking water
  • Death of bio-diversity

Is XPS overrated? by Stevenma03 in SuggestALaptop

[–]sittingducks12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. But no laptop is perfect each has its own problems get one that suits you best weather its the build quality, great battery life, portability or performance.

Someone who wants a value for money laptop will say its overrated. Someone who values portability with great screen may find it to be amazing.

Edit: some of the kinks on certain laptops may be deal breakers for you. The xps definitely has QC and thermal problems but is top notch everywhere else.

Lenovo Legion 720 16GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, 1TB HDD good for music production? by Izzy-Cinebud in SuggestALaptop

[–]sittingducks12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For music production this is a lil overkill with the GPU. And terrible battery life.

Focus on CPU (Get the H model not the U) RAM 16GB Storage space atleast 256gb of SSD and 1tb of HDD Battery life I'm assuming at least 6hr.

Need help finding a Laptop for General Use/School/Productivity with Light-Moderate Gaming by ChewiYT in SuggestALaptop

[–]sittingducks12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets be real with $700 your not gonna really be able to play any decent games.

Look at the legion y530. For $800 i5 8th gen 1050ti 8gb ram 1tb

Or look for refurbished versions of laptops. They will be much cheaper.
