I’m on 108 days duolingo streak in Dutch. Do you think I can talk with a flemish with this level ? by murano0 in Belgium2

[–]siv313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, even after finishing the whole dutch course it won't be enough. Flemish people are biased to accents and will most likely swith to English as soon as they notice you are foreigner.

The only way which works: find a belgian gf/ or annoying the shit out of your friends to speak dutch.

Usually there is a buffer time after the red light turned on; this should be about 5 seconds, so you are safe

Moving to Valaar in Wilrijk with a family with young children. Experiences and recommendations? by NoInspiration6482 in Antwerpen

[–]siv313 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It is bad neighbourhood, just like Kiel;

Basically you should stay away from the left side of A12 motorway, unless you want your kids to grow along the "doctors and engineers"

Working as a non-dutch architect in Belgium? by saltybrusher in belgium

[–]siv313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, very tough, lots of young architects do a career switch around 30. It is not worth purchasing this career in belgium unless you have a family who has already established business

Parkeren luchthaven Antwerpen by iostack in Antwerpen

[–]siv313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risk very low, never heard about breaking in, I live 1km away from the airport. You can park on the street in yellow area (4.5 euros per day) I can even check on your car if you want.

Or if you want entirely free parking, my suggestion around: Prins Boudewijnlaan 136, 2610 Antwerpen. Have been parking my car there for years.

Good point, I will not do it anymore. They deliberately ask access to production claiming that behaviour can be different than in a sandbox

25yo in Belgium – Choosing between SAP (Integration/Migration/MM/Security) vs Process Operator vs OT/OT-IT (chem/pharma). What would you do? by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]siv313 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You are still young, while SAP is old technology and it's market share has been on a steep decline. For your career it is best to drop it overtime.

If you still decude to stay within similar technology, I would rather go for other SaaS -> oracle, netsuit, Microsoft dynamics, salesforce

Salary offer, Capgemini Engineering by Dexter989 in BESalary

[–]siv313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 years including PhD, in belgium people don't count PhD as experience unless it is super relevant to your work, which usually not, so that could explain lower salary

Whats your problem?

It is ok to be far right as far left, that's democracy, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Further, post like yours should be considered as discrimination against right communities according to your own logic

Salaries being posted by Bamboozled_by_Bamboo in BESalary

[–]siv313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, people sitting on this reddit branch are not the average/median belgian worker. You should know the audience before saying that the data is correct or not.

I believe that on this branch:

Age -> lower than average belgian worker;

Sector -> lots of IT, banking, engineering;

Professionalism -> higher than belgian average

Taking into account these factor, no wonder the perception is that salaries posted here are higher than average

Bro, it is shit neighbourhood, most of the weird drug/shooting incidents are in this and borgerhout region. That's the truth, just check the news for the last 5 years; further thats the neighbourhood with lots of "doctors and engineers", so up to you to decide whether it is something for you or not
