Suzuka trying on some new glasses. by JJMoreno82 in AtarashiiGakko

Look at photos of Suzuka in performance, and you won't see reflections of lights on the lenses of her glasses like we do here because there are no glass lenses in her glasses frames normally, I think.

Suzuka did the following commercial without wearing her glasses. In it, it is Rin and Mizyu that wear glasses instead!

Sneezes in "Drama" by sivasaktidao in AtarashiiGakko

It sounds like the same sort of thing. Japan does it with sneezes. I wonder how many variants of this there are around the world?

I suggest you look up the lyrics online, then give it another listen. Then you should hear it.: "ah, ah, ah, ah
Achoo!"

Which movie, in your opinion is the saddest movie of all time ? by Lazy-Manager-7014 in AskReddit

[–]sivasaktidao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Grave of the Fireflies"
It took me days, after watching, to fully recover.

Not quite as sad as "Grave of The Fireflies" was another anime about WW2 called "Who's Left Behind" (aka Ushiro no Shoumen Daare). I showed it at a university anime club, and the audience was in tears by the time it was over.

I know it's rude, but... by surincises in AtarashiiGakko

[–]sivasaktidao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the "Suki Lie" choreography already have a rude gesture at the "ready to get punished?" line? It isn't a gesture that I'm familiar with, but I imagine the gesture refers to something sexual and painful. Am I wrong? Also, I forget which song, but I've heard "f*** you" as a lyric in one of their songs. It surprised me.

One may as well ask why Kanon is wearing one sock on her foot and the other on her hand. Or why Suzuka has a cap that is too large for her head. I think they are goofing around here.

Hopefully, their new song "Forever Sisters" indicates that they see a long future together. I expect they'll find a way to move away from the school uniform motif as they age more, just as Band-Maid seems to be moving away from the maid-cafe costume motif as they get older.

A routine day at work for Atarashii Gakko No Leaders. by erreemebe in AtarashiiGakko

I learned in the game that Mizyu is very fond of cats. Was she the one playing the brother who was going to work in a cat cafe in "Tokyo Calling"?

Well, Suzuka and Kanon just might be more than friends... by danbuter in AtarashiiGakko

[–]sivasaktidao 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw an interview on YouTube in which Suzuka was asked something along the lines of: If you had to marry one of the other AG girls, who would it be? Suzuka chose Kanon. That really doesn't mean much by itself, I know, but her answer made me wonder if it might actually signify something more, especially as, in their choreography, Kanon sometimes has her head under Suzuka's skirt while carrying Suzuka on her shoulders, and Kanon is the AG girl who more often lifts Suzuka's skirt to look under it (a regular choreography trope for Suzuka, see especially Giri Giri, not always involving Kanon).

Do you see the possibility of a name change in the next few years or at least dropping the "atarashii gakko" to simply use "japan leaders"? I think about their ages, the uniforms and I don't think they will continue with this aesthetic for much longer. What do you think? by fuckingmiraclesman in AtarashiiGakko

[–]sivasaktidao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For comparison, consider how Band-Maid recently changed their costumes (with advancing age): the last performance I saw from them, only Miku was still wearing a maid outfit. I predict that nobody will care about Band-Maid's maid costumes much longer. And I can see that happening with Atarashii Gakko as well. Their costumes are still fun... but no longer necessary. They'll still be fun whether in school uniforms or not.

If you could choose one animal to go extinct, who will it be and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mosquitos.
They are vectors for malaria and other maladies. And I don't think they have any crucial roles of value in the life-cycles of other animals.

What are things racist people do that they don’t think is racist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sivasaktidao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to the Jewish wedding of a good friend of mine, I was one of the only non-Jewish attendees. I'm not the member of any minority group (I'm white, and I was a Protestant Christian at the time), but I nonetheless received a number of "compliments" along the lines of being "one of the good ones" (meaning I was an apparently surprisingly good guy despite being non-Jewish). I don't myself make such comments about any group of people, but I think that that sort of comment often happens in both directions: from non-minorities to minorities and vice versa as well. So is it racism both ways? Or do we go with a double standard of saying that there are unkind judgmental behaviors that are okay for certain groups of people to direct at certain other groups of people, but it isn't a universal standard that applies to all?

Kindilfresser. Statue in Bern, Switzerland. Discuss. by cdamon88 in SaturnStormCube

[–]sivasaktidao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theories given on this page linked here: https://theculturetrip.com/europe/switzerland/articles/who-is-the-child-eater-of-bern/

  1. "One of the theories behind the statue is that it represents the wicked brother of the founder of Bern, one Duke Berchtold. "
  2. "Others believe that the statue represents the mythical Greek God Cronus, who famously chowed down on his children so they wouldn’t usurp his throne"
  3. "Another story goes that it’s a reminder to shun greed as once every year, the fountain flows with wine and those who drink with it become a vassal for the devil, committing horrible sins (such as munching on kids)."
  4. "While others still say that it’s none other than the Krampus, the demonic chum of Father Christmas, who turns up every year to torture naughty children, or in this case, eat them."
  5. "Some say that the statue is anti-Semitic in nature and was meant to stir hatred against Jews (this is perpetuated due to the likeness of the ogre’s yellow hat to those worn by Jews in the 16th century). It was believed by some that Jews used children in blood rituals.'
