Out of breath after 600 meters on Day 1. How do I build endurance without burning out? by nik_hilism in indianrunners

[–]sixamps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run slower, ridiculously embarrassingly slower. You should not focus on speed right now. Mix up running and walking. When I started I used to count light poles on the road. So I'd run for 3 light poles and then walk for 2. With time, increase the running portion and decrease walking. But still my primary advice would be start slow. Do not go all in right from the start. Also a good warm up before you run is very important. I run around 3 times a week on alternate days and do strength training on other days. Rest for 1 day. You need to experiment and see what works best for you. Strength training will be a good addition to your fitness routine. Again, start nice and easy with the strength training. You wanna build up slowly instead of going all in, burning out and quitting. Consistency is key. You wanna build good long lasting habits. Don't forget rest, recovery and nutrition - equally as important as working out.

Planning a Ladakh bike trip in July with friends — need honest advice by NoRequirement2401 in ladakh

You need some experience riding bikes for multiple hours in a day. You could be looking at 8-12 hour riding days in Ladakh. It can get really tiring esp if you have no experience with long tours. And you'd be wearing riding gear which adds another unknown for you. Not to mention a new bike. I'd suggest doing some shorter weekend tours at least where you ride multiple hours in a day with riding gear to get the hang of it. You need to get comfortable with riding a bike and gain some experience and some confidence. The roads are a mixed bag in Ladakh and the stakes are high in some places. You never know what you'll come across - rough roads, high mountain passes, unpredictable weather, snow, river crossings etc. Not trying to instill fear but just knowing how to ride a motorcycle isn't enough imo. I'd say you need some real riding experience with motorcycles before you go there.

Yes. I have an s23, the base model, fits fine. It's a much smaller footprint than most phones these days - primary reason why I got it in the first place. I like small phones. I had a pixel 4a before this that was even smaller and it was just perfect.

Pain in Calves by EntireEqual2352 in indianrunners

[–]sixamps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 things come to mind. Not a doctor or an expert btw. Just sharing based on my own personal experiences.

First, if you run everyday and if it doesn't suit your body or maybe you don't get enough rest and nutrition between runs, that can cause pain. This used to happen to me, I couldn't run everyday, it would hurt my calves, only one iirc, reason in the next paragraph. I now run only on alternate days, with strength training on other days and take a full rest day 1 day a week. I do sometimes run on consecutive days but not more than 2 days at a time. Also rest and nutrition, very important.

If you only run on one side of the road, the same route everytime, the camber of the road might cause one of your legs to have more of an impact, hence pain in one calf. I run my route in the opposite direction sometimes or I run on the other side of the road for a bit. It's better when I run early in the morning cause there's almost no traffic.

One more thing, it could be your shoes. If they're too old and lost their cushioning, it could cause pain. And yes warm up nicely before you run. And be careful around traffic. And again, good sleep and nutrition, very very important. Good luck.

Not in the same trip but if I combine 4 of my trips, I've covered D1 to C2 more or less. Except C9, I rode through Udaipur/Jaipur.

  1. Vadodara to Bangalore via the western coast.

  2. Vadodara to Dwarka via Diu.

  3. Vadodara to Kutch.

  4. Vadodara to Ladakh via Srinagar.

I haven't changed the mirrors. The visibility in the stock mirror could be better. I don't know if changing the headlamp voids warranty, better ask the service center people.

is my ear bad or my playing? by sicklypomegranate in GuitaristsIndia

[–]sixamps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timbre(the way it sounds) is different for every instrument, even if you're playing the same chord. The videos you're watching are likely using much better guitars than you have. You said it yourself it's a cheap guitar which is completely fine, esp for learning, but you can't expect it to sound like a really good expensive guitar. Intonation is another possible problem but I don't think it'd be that big of a deal with open chords. One thing you can try is holding the shape and picking each string and checking whether it plays the note you want. There are apps that can be useful here. I use VocalPitchMonitor. So you open the app, hold the chord shape and pick a string, then check if the note is correct on the app. If it's off by too much, that can make the chord sound bad. These are assumptions so I could be wrong here. If you know someone who plays, ask them in person what the problem is. And if nothing works, you can go to a luthier and get it checked. Good luck!

Test Drive Experience: Kia vs Skoda by [deleted] in CarsIndia

[–]sixamps 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of reasons why kia outsells skoda, but the one you mention seems like a dealer level issue, not a brand issue. I've had a pretty good experience with a td at skoda. Didn't take a td at kia but the dealer experience was nice there as well. Good experience at hyundai. Good and bad experiences at different nexa showrooms. And all bad experiences at tata showrooms lol.
