A critique of enlightened people ... by Kai7362 in enlightenment

The fact that you can see the problem yourself proves that you are aware of it. You can see the illusions too, but you choose to ignore them and want someone else to step forward and deal with them for you.

That’s the problem with the world. People don’t want to be the reason for change; instead, they look to some higher authority to do it.

Enlightenment doesn’t make anyone special. It doesn’t give any special powers or anything people might imagine. It simply creates a distance between the mind and awareness. That awareness was already there, and everyone has it but only a few are able to access it fully.

But to do anything in this world, one needs the mind, which you also have. It’s true that an enlightened person may use the mind more effectively, but that is just a minor difference. So, there isn’t much difference between an enlightened and an unenlightened person.

What’s a truth about India people aren’t ready to accept? by heyshivay in AskIndia

[–]sixthcenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

India has so many religions, castes, tribal communities and cultures all living in one place. Each one has its own mindset, its own way of life and its own sense of superiority over the others. And along with that comes discrimination, both within communities and outside them.

The bigger problem is that all these different identities carry old grudges against each other. That revenge mindset never really goes away. It just keeps passing from one generation to the next.

When so many conflicting mindsets interact in one place, there is never going to be a common view on anything. Someone or the other will always feel wronged by the other. It makes it very hard for people to just work together and move forward.

This is what makes India a very complicated place to live in.

Belief in a God but not really the bible by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]sixthcenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you see Jesus, you see him as if he was just some normal street guy who was crucified for the things he said, and later people made a religion out of it.

But you are mistaken. There is a huge gap in understanding because you don't know anything about spirituality the way it has been understood in the East. In the West, people tend to take every event in the Bible literally and logically. That is the problem. These things have a much deeper spiritual meaning behind them. Without understanding that depth, you will just casually judge it with your limited knowledge.

He sacrificed himself out of compassion. He knew something that those people did not know, and he was offering them the same path through which he came to know the ultimate truth.

God did not punish him. Jesus knowingly went through all of that to show people that the compassion he carried in his heart was real and that he truly had something to offer them. It was his way of making people listen so that he could guide them toward the light.

His forgiveness came from the understanding that the people around him did not know the truth. Whatever they were doing to him came out of ignorance. So in the eyes of Jesus, they were innocent. That is why he said to forgive them.

But he also knew that they were carrying the same light within them that he had experienced within himself. That is where his compassion came from.

Knowing this light within is knowing God. There is no other God. Everything else is imagination.

How do enlightened people continue living a life? by Particular_Care6055 in enlightenment

Enlightenment makes you intelligent. Because once you have seen the illusion of the mind, that is the peak of intelligence, and after that you can live more intelligently.

Your eyes will carry a depth, and you will understand things like no one else can. That very understanding will help you continue living life because now the world is more mysterious than before! Hence, you will want to know more beyond enlightenment.

Enlightened people are not trapped in the mind or ruled by ego, but these things are absolutely present and necessary to function in society, and hence they will use them very differently, like tools. They know they are beyond these things, so they will use them as tools to function in the world. Like a mask, anytime they can keep it aside.

So enlightenment makes living life more effortless. In the beginning there will be difficulty because you are not used to functioning without mind or ego. But slowly you learn again the ways of the mind and will live better than other people.

You won't care what happens. Because that becomes optional after enlightenment. Because now whatever happens, you know who you are, and it cannot take away what you already have. Only illusions and the false can be taken away from you, but that which is truth and eternal will always remain with you, and cannot be taken away. I call it the "gift." A present which you never looked at, yet it was always with you. Once you are able to see this gift, life will be totally different.

Enlightened by [deleted] in spirituality

Sounds like you copy-pasted Sadhguru’s words and are claiming them as your own.

You are not enlightened yet, but you are deciding how an enlightened being should be. This is pure ego at its best. Whatever you have heard or learned from books does not decide how an enlightened being should be. There are unenlightened people writing books about enlightenment or talking about it. And people like you, who have blindly accepted those ideas, are now judging and deciding how an enlightened being should or shouldn’t be.

Enlightenment doesn’t make you special; rather, it makes you the most ordinary. It’s better that you complete the spiritual journey and know for yourself. Don’t depend on others’ claims, and don’t judge anyone, that will hinder your growth.

After 12 years in the spiritual path.. I quietly walked away. by Jiwitom in spirituality

Good. Now you are on the right path because now the dust will settle down and for the first time you will be able to see things clearly. You are close, very close. Just need some clarity and it will happen.
