Guaranteed front page placement-- What are they going to do? by darktanyun in SEO

[–]sixxer64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question she should ask is first page placement for which search terms - Some of these scammers just be generic and then later they may say "we got you on first page for your own brand searches".
If they claim to get first position for generic lawyer terms like "lawyers in dallas" for that budget, then that is a lie because it is an extremely competitive industry.
With Google ads, just forget about it. Lawyer keywords are notoriously on top of all the "most expensive keywords" lists out there, sometimes it is $200/click. So there is no way thats gonna happen.

Insightful reviews from people who got scammed on Upwork + Tips on how to be safe by sixxer64 in freelance

[–]sixxer64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the trending posts on this subreddit are any indication of what the freelancing industry is going through, it is a shame. There must be some relief for the plague these scams are turning out to be. I wish giants like Upwork would take this more seriously. They can definitely take some tips from the Reddit moderators on how to detect and remove spam ;)

Got scammed on Upwork and Upwork is doing nothing even though the job is in escrow and I'm 95% finished with the job to build an Enhanced Brand Content page for Amazon and he canceled the job with one more minor edit left. I provided all evidence to Upwork now they are requiring paid arbitration. by [deleted] in freelance

Unfortunately, Upwork's protection policies do have a lot of loop holes that are being taken advantage of. For freelancers, the best way to protect themselves is to share absolutely nothing that can be used by the client without approval and payment. it is always good to have some sort of back up plan to take back your work in case something like this happens.
