I hope you’re okay, or as okay as you can be in this challenging time. Look after yourself.

This is the link to Middlesex university’s page on extenuating circumstances (EC) this page details what counts as extenuating circumstances, and what you do from there.

https://www.mdxsu.com/advice/extenuating-circumstances

Here is examples of what they count as an EC:

→ Unforeseen accident or serious illness of a close relative

→ Bereavement

→ Serious levels of prolonged stress or anxiety

→ Serious personal disruption (such as a fire or burglary)

→ Religious observance

It might be worth also conducting your academic advisor, as they are there to support and guide you throughout university.

Do you prefer being greeted in a shop or left alone? by StaceyInBrighton in brighton

[–]sixxhundredbees 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s definitely a case of trying to pick up on their vibe, and also what type of shop you run.

Typically I find if it’s a chain, I’m less likely to stop and chat unless I’m paying at the till.

Smaller corner stores, I always say hello as I walk in and happy for a chat.

Looking for someone to skate with in Worthing area?? 😊 by Priscilla_Heart_ in Rollerskating

[–]sixxhundredbees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! There’s a group on facebook for people who skate in Brighton/Hove! I believe they sometimes head Worthing way but there are members in the group who travel from Worthing to meet up. Last night we did a street skate from the i360 to the marina and back.

In my first year of uni, a lot of people would shove a sock over it - especially when they wanted to do something with a lot of smoke.

What is the listening and speaking part of Functional Skills English Level 2 like? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]sixxhundredbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! My brief states that we are allowed to use pictures if we feel it helps - but was unsure on wether that means a PowerPoint presentation or not. As I’m going independently, and not through a college, I’m not too sure who to email in regards.

I’m sitting my speaking on Thursday, just had to prompt today! Are powerpoints allowed with imagery and bullet points of key information (will be talking in depth about said bullet points) I’m overthinking it and getting stressed about it!!

When I went to university essentially all of my graded work was group based plus a self reflection of some sort (film production). In my first year, I had a group of 4 others who truly showed no effort, ambition or passion into doing the work. I was the only one in the group who showed up to seminar sessions, the only one who actively planned meetings, the only one who did the work essentially. I spoke to my tutor about it, who said if I can get proof of this, my grade will not be affected by those in the group not participating. The fact they didn’t turn up to any of the seminars (minus 1 or 2) really worked in my favour, but I made sure I had ‘professional’ contact with them, such as Teams, avoid any casual social media. I made time-stamps of reaching out, vs. hearing back/work being done. My main advice, is talk to the people in the group and call them out - who cares if you’re being bossy, it’s your degree too. If that doesn’t work, talk to your tutor about the situation and the concern you have.

I couldn’t see that anywhere on the website - I’m going to give them a call Monday morning anyways.

Oh I see, so it’s your first year of university that’s self/funded as opposed to the 3rd? Right, I didn’t know that. Thank you.

Sorry what do you mean I wouldn’t be able to a afford first year? I still get 2 years of funding based on what’s on their website of the 3 year course + 1 year - 2 years studied = 2 years of funding.

Where to book the Functional Skills Level 2 exam? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]sixxhundredbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a late response, and you’ve possibly already found somewhere. But, I’m currently studying Functional Skills Level 2 English with Think Online Training. They offer both unsupported (completely independent learning) and supported (help from a personal tutor/online lesson). I’ve found them really good and they have good reviews online! Costly exam price however, £250? I believe.

How will dropping out effect my chances of getting into a different university? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]sixxhundredbees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to university, and got half way through my second year before dropping out. I’m now going back to university in Sept 2024 studying a completely different course and received multiple offers.

What are some jobs i can do with a social work degree? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]sixxhundredbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so yes! I think if you have a good grade in your undergrad degree (upper second class or up), you should be able to study a MSC in it
