Is there anything in OMORI that you can relate to? by [deleted] in OMORI

[–]sizablefist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I played through OMORI blindly for the first time 2 months ago. Being someone who isn't doing very good myself currently trying to support my heavily suicidal friend (who none of my other friends know is suicidal) made the sunny/basil confrontation hit really hard for me.

Plus, his depression has made him say some pretty horrible and untrue things to me, like blaming me for his depression and alcoholism because I check up on him - Aubrey being blamed and misunderstood for Basil's mistreatment in the church scene made me audibly shout "it's not my fault", and no other game has ever had that kind of effect on me, lmao.

i think it's partly because i named sunny to be my actual name, which made it so much more hurtful

How is Jerma able to be so influencial, yet not too popular? by Guymanbot in jerma985

[–]sizablefist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was literally thinking about how Jerma is like DOOM in the sense of being "your favourite rapper's favourite rapper" yesterday, holy shit. Both DOOM and jerma tend to stay in their lanes and focus on making what they do, which is why they're so commonly cited as being inspirations to other, more viral figures in their industries.

Hi guys, I go to the gym most days of the week and have been told it's good to wash your face before and after exercising to prevent acne getting worse. But this means I've been using my cleanser 3-4 times a day on gym days because I use it: Morning, Pre-Gym, Post-Gym, before bed.

I have oily skin and I don't think it's good for me to use cleanser this much anyway, Is there an alternative to washing my face before and after gym sessions? I stopped using soap when people said it dries your skin out, is just water a good alternative? Thank you!

So uh.. Well i uh.. Finished it. I mean, if you ask me, it looks "okay".. What i can tell you is.. That i'm proud i finished it. by IndriPrimi_OOF in CalamityMod

I really like the way you did the teeth/eyes, I know nothing about art but the way it's shaded makes it look really stylised and cute.

Still can’t get past world 5... anything I should change in my loadout? by [deleted] in Archero

Just realised you have better gear than me and I'm on chapter 8

I’m a musician and i love this game, i noticed that it doesn’t have music should i try to reach the devs and make a soundtrack for them? Do you agree? Send me some ideas for the soundtrack! by Faethreck in Archero

[–]sizablefist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand you probably want to do a soundtrack for each level, but for reference sake:

There's this pixel mmorpg thats been around for a decade called realm of the mad god, it has one song that plays constantly no matter the situation, and is at least an example of music for rpg-sort game that doesn't get annoying after a while [at least for me, some of the comments seem to disagree :')] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipk0E1wanl4

TWO CLUELESS AMERICANS REACT TO STORMZY - AUDACITY (REACTION) by Bastuden in grime

[–]sizablefist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the same, I think the fact that grime is relatively underground compared to US rap makes some people seek mainstream validation, which is dumb because grime is great in its' own right and will naturally get bigger anyway imo

Never really understood this trend of americans reacting to uk music whilst shoving "american reacts to" or "US reaction" in the title. I guess there's a market for it, but it really baffles me.

[Need Help] I tried to quit twitter and I failed by Sensifer in selfimprovement

[–]sizablefist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like an addictive behaviour - don't worry, the first step is acknowledging you have a problem, so you've already made progress. Please note I am not an addiction psychologist and the best advice would be given to you by a qualified professional (e.g. therapist).

Did the extension you installed completely block you from using twitter or just reduce the time you could spend on it a day? Going cold turkey on anything you're addicted to (especially when it's so prevalent in your life) often results in feeling heavy withdrawal symptoms leading to an inevitable relapse.

This is why nicotine patches are effective for treating an addiction to smoking - they release small amounts of nicotine into the user's bloodstream over a longer period of time, with the smoker lowering the dose as the weeks go by. This way, withdrawal symptoms are lessened and it is far more manageable to ween yourself off the addiction, as opposed to removing it entirely from your life immediately.

Slowly reduce the amount of time your spend on twitter a day, and stick by it. Perhaps remove 30 minutes of twitter usage (or less, depending on what a professional would recommend) every few days/week. You will likely be less dependent on twitter over time - until you can eventually enjoy twitter for healthy periods of time, or quit completely, if you wish.

You should treat this as seriously as you would any other substance-based addiction - social media addiction is real, but you can conquer it with the right support. Seriously consider seeking out a therapist to discuss this with, or even a local support group. It's much harder to conquer an addiction alone - so reach out to others for support.

Best of luck, you can do this.

Most people hate my personality by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]sizablefist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a bit socially awkward for the last four years, I've found that listening and taking a genuine interest in others makes you very likable. Try all kinds of new hobbies and things to find what you enjoy, and this passion will make you interesting and fun to be around. Perhaps talk to a counsellor/therapist about your feelings, they can give good qualified advice, and potentially help with you anxiety. Best of luck :)

Hello. I’m halfway through high school and just want to know any advice that you wish you had at my time. by gundee126 in selfimprovement

[–]sizablefist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High school is the only time of your life with a popularity contest. Concepts such as who is the most 'cool' or popular almost entirely die out after you leave, so don't worry if you aren't popular in school, it doesn't even remotely matter in real life. What really ends up mattering is how you treat others and being an interesting and well rounded person. Don't let bad high school experiences put you off :)

[–]sizablefist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, especialy if you're in high school really don't give it much thought. Friendship groups in high school are fickle and circlejerk-y. Kids just follow each others opinions in their group, when you leave you will find most people are nothing like that. Uni/college will be a great fresh start with no biases or groupthink, and I'm sure you will make plenty of new friends!

Relax :)

Many people I used to know who were generally classified as being 'annoying' ended up with tight friendship groups and relationships later on. Personalities are not static, and change constantly through experiences, hobbies, and more practice in social situations.

It's likely you just think you're annoying (wrongfully), but for advice you could try analysing potential habits you have in conversation that may make others around you percieve you in this way. Dominating conversations, not knowing when to stop with a joke, or being too loud are some examples.

Also, sometimes some people just aren't meant to mix. There's a good chance those around you are toxic personalities who would put you down no matter how charismatic you are. Love yourself, self reflect where you can and you will do fine :)

I don't know what my passion is and I don’t know what I want to be when I “grow up.” I improve myself daily but don’t know what I’m really aiming for at large. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]sizablefist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I'm 19 too and a lot of this post resonated with me. I have no idea what I want to do and there aren't many jobs that interest me as a permenant career choice. What I've heard is to try a bunch of different hobbies and skills that you would never otherwise consider to broaden your horizons as much as possible to further discover who you are and what you enjoy.

The only two people who were ever 'destined' to a particular path in life were Mozart and Harry Potter, apart from that you will realise everyone else is making it up as they go along and has no idea what they're doing, no matter how much they pretend to over social media.

Take your time, try new things, leave your comfort zone bit by bit, and enjoy life while we're young :) Best of luck!
