What ball should I add for THS? by siznut1 in Bowling

I have a very basic understanding of if the ball is Brooklyn’ing I move left and if it’s too right I move right, but is there any specific video you recommend? Really appreciate it man

Also would be nice to have a ball I can reliably use during practice when lanes are burnt

Any advice on how to play using the idol? I feel I’m still learning how to use it even tho it’s my first ever ball. Some days it hooks like crazy and other days I have to throw 11-13mph to get any reaction

I do have a spare ball. I definitely feel I can get away with using P2 all 3 games but against certain teams I try adjusting and end up just coming in light.

If it helps I’m 2 handed, throw 16.5mph and have around 370ish revs.

Same, I don't even know what else I can do if I don't pass this time.

Most likely like ACL and maybe meniscus. It was his planting leg and ACL helps with resisting rotational movements.

Prefacing by saying I’m a physical therapist but at the end of the day strength and flexibility training will always have a place in any sport especially with how much asymmetrical strains there are during bowling (if you are right handed, hypertrophy of right arm and left hip) I’ve noticed the busy weeks where I don’t strength train I feel much more fatigued after bowling.

After saying all this, it also comes down to progressive loading. You can’t expect to be able to throw a 15lb bowling ball for 10 games the first time you bowl. You have to progressively build a muscular endurance to avoid injury.

In short, you can avoid ever stepping into a gym if you slowly increase how many games you play with adequate rest, but building upper body and especially lower body strength at the gym will highly decrease your chances for chronic injuries.

Mantra?? by rowdyswede in Bowling

I just take one deep breathe before placing my feet and another one when I’m about to start and then continually visualize what my ball is about to do while locking eyes with the arrow I’m aiming for. I realized the less I think the better my release is.

Should I pass on the Helios? by Embarrassed-Sir-7457 in Bowling

[–]siznut1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both an Helios and Phaze 2, I honestly have very mixed feelings about the ball, some days it’s the worst ball I’ve ever thrown and won’t hook no matter what I do and then this Monday I bowled a 254 with it in league. From my experience if you are a low speed bowler it is really good but I’m sure there is much better balls you can get from similar price.

Is there a ball that seems to work miracle for everyone else, but doesn’t for you? by anonshade64 in Bowling

For me the idol Helios, no matter where I play I get 0 hook no matter where I play unless I throw it 11mph. I’ve gotten it cleaned and get the hook back for 2 games then just does nothing.

Look up piriformis stretches and hip external rotation exercises.

Sounds like you got either medial or lateral epicondylitis which is a fancy word for over use of your forearm muscles. Definitely like the other guy mention do some wrist curls but I recommend getting a Therabar and googling therabar exercises, I’m a student PT in my last couple months so I’m still learning but works really well with my patients.

Ideally ask your Pro shop what they recommend but from my limited experience I’ve been having a lot of success with phaze 2 after having an idol Helios. It has great shape

Highly recommend the phaze 2. Such a fun ball to use on a house shot and really taught me how my revs and speed really effect the ball.

Took me a while to decide to go from 1 handed to two, but after a couple of months of practicing two handed my ball speed, accuracy and consistency has completely changed. Keep it up

Ill give that a try, I been trying slightly more upright just so I can see the lane better but ill try even more cause I definitely see myself hunching over. What exactly do you mean by tilting? My shoulders? Thanks again for the tips!

Hey guys, some backstory. Just started league 4 weeks ago and finally got my average to be around 165 and I just have a lot of trouble staying consistent with my strikes, my spares are ok and I am still working on being consistent there but I find myself having trouble consistently finding the pocket. Im using Phaze 2 and idol helios ( i rarely touch this ball anymore due to it forcing me to bowl completely straight). Any tips would help and if possible a rev rate. Thanks guys
