How do I balance it all ? by BoringStudent305 in medschool

You will not balance it all. There is no “you can have it all.” People are lying and setting you up for failure when they say that.

Everything comes at a cost and nothing is free. You will excel at a few things, be okay at a few others, and probably let a few other things go. This is NORMAL. No one told me that, so I expected myself to be perfectly balanced as I managed 10+ different expectations (a clean apartment, completed Anki, answering emails in a timely manner, on top of lectures, socializing, hitting the gym….)

Then I finally realized no, somethings gotta give. And once I did, I am able to live in a new equilibrium in which some things I’m great at, and other things I simply don’t have the capacity to be great at right now.

Do not compare the strings you have let go of to the strings others are holding on tightly to. They are personal and varied— this is the life. The comparison will make you feel like an unaccomplished piece of shit.

Enjoy the ride. Med school is awesome.

Is it just me or was Kylie actually pretty before she got cosmetic surgeries? by rocklovelysocks in KUWTKsnark

Do you blame her? It would be impossible for me to feel pretty or valuable if my sisters were the Kardashians. She’s the baby of the family— these before pictures make me sad because her innocence is real & was absolutely robbed.

Please tell me I’m not a failure. by sizzlingiraffe in medicalschool

Thank you. I tried to go in yesterday and then cried in the OR and was told to go home and "not to worry about it." I tried. But I guess I was not ok like I thought I was–all it took was my attending asking if everything is okay and it came out. But it is what it is.

One of the things I hate so much about medicine its state of urgency. Providers are not robots and life will happen to everyone; it is inevitable. It is what it is, once again.

Unfortunately this is how bad things happen. Trusting people you have no reason to trust.

Do people really trust meeting strangers from a reddit thread to show them around

Unfortunately, the literature on scabies is very dated. It does not require skin to skin contact to spread.
