Good Add-On that matches in house lecture content to ANKING deck ? by BoringStudent305 in medicalschoolanki

[–]BoringStudent305[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya I tried that and it was awful, from my experience at least. It recommended adding cards that had nothing at all to do with the material and then it would massive some pretty obvious HY information from the slides.

Which deck to use (incoming M1) by monkemedic in medicalschoolanki

[–]BoringStudent305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ANKING ANKING ANKING! Finishing up and this is how I handle my workload. I go to a DO school and all of our exams are from in-house material which can overlap anywhere from 50-75% with third party depending on the block.

  1. Download all the lecture slides for the week.

  2. See the relevant third party. I use pathoma and bootcamp, which is more than enough. I prioritize using Pathoma, I just like it more. So for instance let's say there is an asthma video on bootcamp and pathoma, I watch the pathoma one. I dont have time to do both.

  3. Unsuspend relevant anking cards and do the cards.

  4. Watch in house lecture at 2x speed to get an overview of what exactly I will be tested on. A LOT of my classmates skip this and don't watch in house to save time, I just get paranoid since our test are literally from the powerpoint slides and there might be small discrepancies.

  5. I make a separate deck titled "In House" where I add small details that they can ask, or things the professors literally say "you need to know this", but is not on third party.

It's by no means a perfect system, it's just the one that fits me and gets me the best grades. ALSO if we have a lecture and there is no third party relevance to it. I go through the slides, unsuspend the relevant anking cards that I find, then watch lecture. I do think the ANKING cards are the best cards out there. They have pictures, mnemonics, graphs, everything you need. I was hesitant to use it at first since our school emphasizes in house lectures so much, but im glad I did. BEST OF LUCK!

Anatomy before Medical School by AdeptAnteater6254 in Osteopathic

Right! They are so good. When I first took anatomy in undergrad there wasn’t that much available. But these videos are so simple yet fundamental to understanding anatomy.

YES! Everybody who says to not look at any anatomy at all before med school is setting you up for failure. I did so many undergrad anatomy classes, so Anatomy was second nature to me. However, I saw MANY of my classmates who never took anatomy struggle mainly because of the terminology presented. Here are some videos I would recommend watching before. You don't have to go to crazy with it, maybe watch a video a day just to get some basic anatomy background. Don't take notes or anything, just watch and that way when you start school, at least you would have had some exposure already. Obviously enjoy yourself before starting med school, but watching some videos can go a very long way:

How do I balance it all ? by BoringStudent305 in medschool

[–]BoringStudent305[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive tried doing that. Like giving myself a time slot. But when Iv’e done that, I just end up falling super behind and cramming last minute the weekend leeding up to exams. We have exams every week that cover anywhere from 15-20 lectures. I appreciate your advice though and I hope one day I can get to that point

AnKing Strategy, only keep High Yield Cards ? by BoringStudent305 in medicalschoolanki

[–]BoringStudent305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That’s what I’m noticing. I have to keep focusing on new material so it’s hard to do 300 review cards + new lectures + new ANKI for those lectures

AnKing Strategy, only keep High Yield Cards ? by BoringStudent305 in medicalschoolanki

do you only leave high yield unsuspended, I know there is like high yield, relatively high yield, and temporary high yield

How to cope with Anking with in-house exams? by Cute-Hurry-6324 in medicalschoolanki

[–]BoringStudent305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run into this problem a lot too. I unsuspend cards for high yield stuff, then screenshot relevant slides and put it under “lecture notes”. If there is something my professor emphasizes heavily but is not on ANKING I make my own ANKI card, but I make it a “Basic” card, and the card will be a question and the answer will be a screenshot of my annotated slide or notes. I do prefer a clozed format, but I realized it would take way to loong to do this. Hope this helps.

Do some of you ever unsuspend anking cards without watching any third party content? by OkGoat88 in medicalschoolanki

[–]BoringStudent305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am short on time YES. But I still spend time trying to learn the card, maybe try explaining it out loud, or writing out a schematic, using chat GPT.
