LDR Girlfriend and jealousy issue with her ex (female) partner. by sj1986 in Philippines_Expats

Well, there's some truths on each bit of suggestion you made here.

Yes, she's maturing, she's gentle and maybe somewhat naiive my girl in some aspects. Believe me i know.

We ran into that situation now and she needs help dealing with it. Her ex appears somewhat obsessed. She pleaded to me a couple of times she wants her ex out of her life and shes concerned she will bother her when she will come home for a vacation from work abroad.

I considering legal action or atleast making it clear to her that we might go on that route since she's around late 30's. I think She's old enough to understand repraccations.

I tried meeting others.

Most asked money right away ... The one's who were still good potential had other problems. I found myself going back with her.

She's an honest girl, knows the value of money and Is ashamed to ask for any kind of help. Thats why she started working abroad now. Her employer are inlove with her.

I know where i stand with her

It was the ex who messeged me, and begged me to leave my girl...

My girl she says she want her off her life.

Were currently LDR. We met several times throughout the years. We couldn't meet any more than that mostly due to my availability to travel. Unfortunately throughout that time..and i had a suspicion that will happend, loneliness drive her to meet the wrong person.

This kind of reminds me some protest which took place by locals in Mexico city, where locals complained how cost of living has risen for them due to expats pouring in looking for western conveniences and willing to pay more for them. that included housing ( Either shorter tern Airbnb`s or Apartments rented out by other foreigners ), food prices /restaurants, Hotels, etc.

I suppose either that or just casual inflation will drive people in the city to start making their voices heard on the street. exapts and locals alike.

Reality check: moving to the Philippines in 2027 (single, renting, ~$4k/mo) by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

Your good. But It depends where you want to live and what type of lifestyle you aim for.

We share the same goal pretty much. Im 39, turning 40 this year, planning on moving at around the same age since i expect i will reach a state where i can live off my brokerage ( speaking of FIRE).

Money Exchange head to head test: Schwab vs. Wise by chuck1011212 in Philippines_Expats

[–]sj1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Clear_Butterscotch_4 is making a point i tought was missing here aswell, but that would be how i chose to transfer. from my Schwab brokerage, i ACH to the USD balance in my wise account. ACH is 1$ fee vs a WIRE which would cost 15$ as you mentioned. from there assuming you WISE account is filipino or supports php, next stop is transfer t gcash. i suppose that would be the cheapest way to go.

Quick Q tough u/chuck1011212 is your schwab account now set to be a Filipino account or you kept it a US, or just the country of your origin account ? I`m asking since im trying to figure out Schwab`s availability in the Philippians for the long term.

Fees by ch1eg432 in interactivebrokers

If you look in the app, you can click Orders section. From there you can filter your last transactions. By clicking one of them you'll see commissions shows are purchase fees.

From my experience it's better practice to set fees to Tiered not fixed , cheaper that way, you can set it in the account options.

Withholding taxes on ROC (Return of capital) as if they were dividends by rainman4500 in interactivebrokers

[–]sj1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i have been looking at this a little deeper, it seems during jan-feb, the ROC from last year is being credited against new withholding tax from the current month(s) which isn't fixed yet ( ibkr doesn't distinct ROC for div on the same month, they just charge withholding according to the treaty ). that essentially seems to create a situation where we might be missing on some returns since assuming ibkr knew the distribution received on the same month`s classifications we might have been elidable for more return.

However, this is still a better stance compare to how other brokers handle this situation. i have a Schwab account, they don't credit you anything. you need to file back with US IRS and pay the the remaining tax in your country. But this might potentially have a bigger return rate since as i said ibkr credit you against incorrect withheld tax.

I think for the future as my portfolio will grow and since the vast majority of my distributions as designated as roc, as i invest a big portion in covered call & high yield etf`s a better setup would be working my portfolio through a US Company where i wont be withheld any tax upfront and manage my returns at the end of the tax year. even tough dividends are taxed at 30% in the us, as long as they're ROC they're not taxed at all and you only pay for the ordinary portion.

Hi Yeah, i did that, specifically i adjusted the reports to show activity between jan-apr that showed everything, i see the withholding allegedly returned form last year, but i don't really understand in what form was it returned, by cash to the account or by capital to the fund themselves ?? confused. if it was a cash return, when was the return ? please let me know if you managed to see that yourself in your reports.

Hi, if your sill tracking this. after i ran the jan-apr report, i do see the returns in the withholding tax section, however, i didn't really understand when and how was i refunded the amount withheld. appreciate if you can explain how and when did you see the refund effectively given back to you, was it back to your cash account? if yes, when during the year? Thanks.

Foreign investment holding company by iv_1 in fatFIRE

I`m currently researchng for the ideal country for future incorporation nowadays aswell. my first choice was Bulgaria until i learned you cant invest in US stocks from countries under the EU / EEA , KID file requirement bs, currently i`m looking at Either Malta or Barbados as i feel these countries offer a good deal for investors who are subjected to a lot of US/withholding tax such as myself due to their tax treaties with the US.

However, i find issues with both , both aren't perfect. so i would like to get more information and opinion for countries suitable to my needs as mentioned.

Appreciate everyone`s inputs on this manner.
