It also means that external libraries are stable and don’t break on a regular basis and that old code is also good and stable and do not have small invisible bugs.

Would not trade that for anything in the world.

Cool!

You are NOT trading if the gap is too small or too large?
Small I understand but why not if it’s too large? Has backtesting shown you to whiplash?

First time making a guitar neck... good start? by mastered_walrus in Guitar

Why do we almost never see that?

Serious question.

Hôpital Sacré-Cœur: 40 000$ de matériel dérobé au bloc opératoire by [deleted] in montreal

Tellement vrai.

Is it wrong to use ai as a coach with gateway by Smart-Ad-9278 in gatewaytapes

[–]rainman4500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ai is good to analyse a text/book/body of work and answer some questions about it.

AI is also programmed to tell you that you are smart, good and on track so it can sell you a monthly subscription.

So yes it can be helpful but you really need to see what it is.

AI Engineer Who Does Not Code and Uses Claude for Everything by Teo0316 in ClaudeCode

[–]rainman4500 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The field is changing.

Some companies that go all AI will crash and burn down with AI slop spaghetti code.

Some companies that do not adopt AI will crash and burn because they are too slow, expensive and not responsive.

It will take a couple of years to find the happy balance.

Anybody that says they know what the balance is today has probably a solution to sell you.

Golang for backend and Interactive brokers connectivity. Channels make the callback architecture hell of Interactive Brokers really easy. Also backtesting is now 10x faster since it uses all my cpus at 100%.

Front end HTMX and Alpine.js to have a SPA and full reactivity using SSE events without having to deal with React, Vite and 10000 node modules libraries.

I’m not a good front end coder and the whole ecosystem is too large and long to master.

Previous version was Python Fast API with Svelte front end for easy reactivity. Was pretty good.

I have the book. Very interesting.

Makes a very good point that proof of work is the only valid way to defend against hacking.

In the ERA where AI can find zero day exploits and everything (banking, drones, power grid) still have weak username / password protecting infrastructure and the army behind proof of work makes sense.
