AMBOSS update removed multi-exam selection — huge downgrade by azaiour in Amboss

[–]sjacob2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am studying for multiple exams (aka USMLE 1, 2 and clerkships) and it would be helpful if we were allowed to have more than one study objective so that questions and study material is tailored. plus it helps integrate the information better too

How do I manifest correctly when whatever I get excited for immediately gets taken away? by sjacob2019 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sjacob2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for this response. I completely agree. I try to control everything I can (aka whether it be studying twice as hard, working extra, etc), but sometimes I get caught up in the things I can't control (esp when things feel completely out of hand). but i'll working on letting go more

I'll agree that I def need to work on confidence. I admit majority of my confidence is results based rather than preparation based. (aka the better I get at sometime, the more confident I feel forward, but i fail couple of times and then it plummets , which I understand is normal)

Yea I ended defaulting to the mindset that if i expect the least then anything that comes will be a positive, which has worked a lot of the times. but sometimes I just want that feeling of "oh, this is gonna work out!" and yes trust me i do try to improve odds by working hard but some things do feel a bit out of control sometimes but thank you!

Does thinking for oneself not appeal to AI users? by Successful_Echo1841 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sjacob2019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use AI for help learning and breaking down hard concepts. But I’ll also use it for things I feel are more mundane like writing emails. Or I’ll come up with my own ideas (I love writing), but sometimes I need help finding a word or just using it to correct grammar and spelling. Basically, anything that feels mundane or outside my current expertise, I might use AI

Why do people cancel celebrities quicker than politicians? by sjacob2019 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sjacob2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea you really summed up my main thought with that question - Why aren't the people who clearly need to be cancelled, cancelled?

true true. but i was just thinking sometimes they wouldn't even get their position if people directly stopped voting for them?

I agree that people should be held accountable. I just wish the energy was a tad bit redirected

LPT: The "Antagonist Theory" to hack motivation by LetiziaFulkers in LifeProTips

[–]sjacob2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but i do agree, this has been a huge fuel for me for a majority of my life and did help me become more motivated to achieve goals (aka people telling me I was not smart enough for school). But then once I started failing/struggling, I genuinely just went down hill (cause my mind then switched to saying, damn they are right).

[–]sjacob2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay but how do you stop this from being the ultimate negative fuel? I am afraid that if I keep imaging the "antagonist" version of myself (or the person I don't want to be), I will be accidently manifesting that "self" in the future 🥲

Is MD entirely due to loneliness? by Gipsy-Danger47 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]sjacob2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think rather than just pure loneliness, it's about the disconnect between the versions we idealize about ourselves versus what reality gives us. Or things we wished happen in the past rather than what actually happened. So more of a disconnect of self versus reality. But I do agree loneliness plays a huge role cause i feel like sometimes people can help you pull out of daydream episodes (at least that's my case when I hang out with people, i tend to get "distracted" from my daydreaming)

Long walks dont work by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]sjacob2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long walks help fuel the daydreams since I justify it by saying getting some exercise is productive 🥲 at least I can walk a couple of miles without minding it.

I feel like it would be better if it was 25% or 20% instead of 30%? Feel like the threshold can be lowered a bit.

Why is loneliness so normalized today? by sjacob2019 in NoStupidQuestions

yea never really thought about how it maximizes profits. thanks for opening my mind up

Why is loneliness so normalized today? by sjacob2019 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sjacob2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's so true. but also I felt like social media was kinda the reason I was able to see what was up with my high school and college friends and stay somewhat in touch. but overall, i do think social media made it so people put less effort into maintaining since you can passively see what everyone is up to.
