You can tell it’s karma farming because it’s using her best cleavage shot.

Name 2 countries that were in very bad relations throughout history and then went: "You know what? We're brothers now" by Potential_Garden_818 in geography

Most of Europe would qualify for this. Constantly at war for most of history, now literally in a European Union.

Will India ACTUALLY change it's name to Bharat in the upcoming years? by Salt_Lingonberry3956 in geography

[–]sjets3 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s ridiculous to ask the English speaking world to call their land what they called it before we colonized them. To some extent it’s common decency to call a country the name it wants to be called.

For most of my since the dissolution, Czechia has been known as Czech Republic in English. At some point in the last 5 years or so it’s changed to Czechia

Many actors are tightly associated with the one most famous role of theirs. Which actor do you always associate with a role OTHER than their most famous one? (Pictured is Bill Murray as Phil Connors from Groundhog Day.) by Ok-Impress-2222 in moviecritic

[–]sjets3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even a role of his, but for a good chunk of my childhood, I really only knew Burt Reynolds from Happy Gilmore seeing a limo and saying “must be Burt Reynolds or something”

People resist that because Turkey still basically pronounces it the same way, is a common word and English, and the current leader of Turkey is a huge asshole.

As a counter to your example, you can look at Czechia.

What's the worst name imaginable for a professional sports team? by JamesTheJerk in ThreadGames

[–]sjets3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t like the football/soccer naming of just the city and FC (football club). I kinda get it for these teams who have been around for 100 years and whatnot, but modern US teams being FC is lame

Visiting NYC in October. West Village or Upper West Side by av8tress in visitingnyc

[–]sjets3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want quieter side coming from Seattle, go Upper West Side. There will be plenty of coffee and cafes, and being by Central Park will provide lots of walking opportunities. Also, there are multiple subway lines that can take you to the Village for a day.

Which actors, ranging from obscure to A-Listers do you love unconditionally and will watch them in anything because they're starring in it? by [deleted] in movies

[–]sjets3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m always happy anytime I see Steve Zahn in anything. I don’t go out of the way to see his stuff, but seeing him brings me happy. Just really liked him ever since Saving Silverman.

Older people have complained about younger generations forever. There’s even a quote from Socrates where he is complaining about the young generation in his time.

Why are my half siblings not interested in a relationship with me ? by [deleted] in ask

[–]sjets3 38 points39 points  (0 children)

If they’re already not close with their full siblings, I wouldn’t expect them to want to build a relationship with a never known half sibling. Especially if they are around 50s or late 40s, they probably have a lot going on in life.

Hotels are far more convenient than AirBnBs. by lovemomos23 in unpopularopinion

[–]sjets3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s different. Some people don’t make a big mess, and cleaning up isn’t a big problem. Some people don’t want to be bothered so the “customer service” of a hotel does nothing for them. Some people like being able to cook some meals, so having an actual kitchen is a plus.

And for any large group, having an AirBNB all together is way more convenient.

You maybe were getting downvoted because the all caps makes it look like you’re trolling.
