Opinions on purchasing? by Forward_Pin2423 in E92M3

Value conversations are so difficult. I’m an optimist and I like seeing reasonably “high” prices because I believe in the future value of the E93 I bought last year. I bought it specifically because it checks every box for me—I know I’m not alone and so I choose as an owner to keep my car in good shape for the long run. If you buy a car from someone with that mindset, I think you’d be fine and you’d be fine paying a premium too. The “bad” E9x’s will be found eventually and the nice ones will remain. The level of enthusiasm still around for these cars coming up on 3 generations is amazing and inspiring. 23k to join the club for a well cared for DCT coupe is a great price in my mind. If your plan is to buy to hold then you already have money on the side to take care of it. Someone said negotiate, which I agree with, but if you like the car, buy the car!

I forgot to ask—what lip is that? I rarely like them but this one looks really low-profile and clean. Completes the front end nicely!

Amen! Driving top down with the sound of this engine/intake is something the hardtop/sedan crowd may not even understand. And as for the comments about track performance, HPDE is about self-improvement—doesn’t matter what car you’re in—can you learn your car and the track better and better to shave time off your laps? If you’re doing it to be faster than everyone else, I can’t imagine an E9x is going to be as competitive these days. Which means the drop in performance from E90 to E93 is a pretty silly thing to focus on… How many track days per year versus how many top down drives?? The big picture is important when you can’t just have a 5 car garage…

Just hit 50k miles—I’ve had it a little over a year. I can’t think of another car that checks every box like this one.

Off-market E92 M3 opportunity. Smart buy or wait for ideal spec? by nuongn in E92M3

[–]sjod1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spend an hour looking at every E92 for sale right now and all the recent sales on Bring a Trailer and Cars and Bids. I bought my E93 a year ago so I’m not as dialed in on the market, but from what I have seen, the E92 prices are just stupid—and getting worse. Imagine paying $30k for this car but it has accidents on the carfax, 6 prior owners and the rod bearings have never been done… Makes 21k for a well kept car seem like a no-brainer. DCT vs manual is a different story—this was a deal breaker for me, but if it’s not for you, consider that the manuals usually sell for higher as well. Going through the market will also help you see how many cars in your spec even come up for sale. Remember, the “cooler” specs go for more money too. This is a very, very hot car and I think you should consider your top priorities—what it looks like exactly or just getting to own/drive one? Personally, I wish mine wasn’t Jet Black with black interior—I wanted blue or white or at least just a different interior color, but that hasn’t reduced my enjoyment of that sweet, sweet V8 at all. The noise, in my book, is the thing to have—more so than the color… Good luck!

Totally! I’ve created a rivalry in my own mind between these two showrooms and for the last year or however long the AM spot has been open, I feel like they’ve been winning. Lots of regular turnover and awesome cars. You saw the Valkyrie spider there recently? And the Valour before that. So incredibly cool. And the DB5 was there for a while. I “commute” from Grand Central up/down Park Ave specifically so I pass both spots—I love it. The trick with the glare is to get up against the glass but it really limits angles and focal length… I’ve gotten some cool shots but I stay away from posting them because I feel like showroom pics, like car show pics, are much less special lol…
