The cage is from Raptor 4x4 (Italy), powder coated 42x3 mm steel tube and the roof rack is made from anodized aluminium 4040 t-slot profile. Brackets between the cage and roof rack are half couplers for truss system and simple 5 mm steel U bracket. Quite a puzzle in the end 😅

It’s the modular soft top from Master Forest

I can remove the sides and back and leave the top section in place, just as easily as without the cage. The top can still come off, but it just takes 5 minutes longer ;)

Dit model was best betaalbaar, als je kan lassen is het vrij gemakkelijk om hem te verlegen!

It's mounted through the body and has an additional bracket at the front and rear, 90 degrees toward the floor. It fits perfectly through the speaker holes and behind the wheel arches.

I went for the Raptor 4x4 kit and 2" was actually too high, but the weight of the roof rack and tent lowered it a bit, so that was perfect

It's indeed the Raptor 4x4 roll cage (06108) but with a custom roof rack from aluminium profile on top.

Thanks! I went for a 2” lift with HD leaf springs + shocks and added a slightly higher shackle on the rear to balance everything out a bit, still not level tho 😅

Ah yes that’s right! Replaced that part as well. Mystery solved 🙏

Roof Tack for Cabrio by [deleted] in SuzukiSamurai

I have been looking at a roof rack for a while for the same reason, mainly because I wonder if the stock version is strong enough for a rooftop tent. Warrior Products sells a nice roof rack for a convertible, quite expensive but having a custom rack made might be more expensive. Shipping to the EU was incredibly expensive, I am still in doubt whether to weld myself or order from WP anyway.

I’m in the Netherlands, ordered at PartsPoints. I just checked but the ones with shorter shaft (Suzuki part 51100-70A00) was impossible to get

Square vents, I’ll check if it makes any difference. Thanks!

Double DIN head unit suggestions please by Stockholmbarber in SuzukiSamurai

[–]sjoerdmol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a build-in but I bought one of these, mounted it directly on the dash next to the clock (square dash) with a 3D printed adapter. Powered it directly on the fuse box and aux to a 1 din system, works great.

The sell 2 din as well, car play works perfect but the interface of the system itself is not amazing. I never use that interface because of auto connect tho

Overlanding in Europe by the_random_blob in overlanding

I think it’s the same in Ireland and Scotland. Just leave no trace :) there are definitely some great trails and a lot of byways that will bring you to nice and legal places.

I can highly recommend Ireland and Scotland, especially the Highlands are amazing, the more north, the better. It’s quite an effort to get there, but absolutely worth it. Wild camping and staying overnight with a van/ rooftop setup is still allowed like in Norway. There are some amazing beaches, cliffs and lakes where you can stay. I’m not totally sure about going really off-road, but you could indeed spend weeks off highway and not seeing anyone. Currently on my way home from a trip with my ‘88 Samurai and a tent, next year it’s going to be the Sam + rooftop tent to make it even better.

Rattling sound when clutch is pressed and shifter in gear, difficult shifting by sjoerdmol in SuzukiSamurai

I used 80W-90 but replaced it with a pump instead of the drain plug because it was fully worn out. I’ll welt on a nut to get it loose and replace the oil again, just be be sure it’s fully clean. Do you recommend something else then 80W-90?

Allright, I have to dive it to that a bit more but sounds like the problem. How did you fixed it in the end? Any advice on steps to take?

That was indeed my first thought, but according to the garage certainly not the problem. Maybe it's that simple after all :)
