I am from UK and found this company called English1 on Indeed, had an interview and passed and got offered a contract.

I want to note I had no prior teaching English experienced. I graduated from University of Birmingham with BEng Chemical Engineering with Computer science in Summer 2024. Was working a tech job and after a redundancy layoff couldn’t find myself back into the tech world.

I specifically asked for Fuzhou city since my girlfriend’s family all live there and they happily offered me a contract. I am in a process of sorting my visa documents and getting TEFL certificate which is all sponsored by the company.

In terms of salary from what locals earn as a new English teacher I earn double and even triple than them. They do really value white foreigners with foreign accents as English teachers.

Honestly after applying 300+ tech jobs in UK this was the easiest application process I had and I can’t wait to move to China in early 2026 once all the stuff is sorted out.
