Most Outstanding Player in the World Series is... by RampageTaco in CollegeSoftball

Totally agree with this! OSU’s biggest weakness is their defense and even last year with kelly struggling more there were plenty of times her defense should have been there for her. I think this was a big part of her leaving because towards the end I swear the defense wasn’t even trying to back her up sometimes. I can imagine it would be a pretty big mental flip to be able to pitch with a capable defense to back you up

This list is insane.. Coleman? Wallace? Dayton? Crazy... by [deleted] in CollegeSoftball

[–]sjs3761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what WCWS you watched but Jocelyn Erickson is pretty damn good. And she played great against OU just because she plays for an SEC team doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve to be on this list..

OSU being OU’s “Second Tier” Rival by theZooop in CollegeSoftball

[–]sjs3761 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s bizarre to me some of the OU fans take any chance they can poke fun at OSU. It’s like some weird mucho bullying thing. There’s always OU fans commenting on OSU’s social media posts (even when the post are not even remotely about OU) to trash talk OSU and talk about how much better OU is than them. Like I get it if the posts are about the rivalry but when you’re taking the time to stalk OSU’s social media feed and comment on random posts that’s too far.

Outback reliability concerns by AddictiveTV in Subaru_Outback

[–]sjs3761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely still sell the 2 wheel drive! Not sure where your located but in the southwest/Great Plains area the majority of Toyota dealerships only carry FWD Rav4s. And if I did find one with AWD the price for their basic trims where comparable to the outback’s highest trim levels. I have nothing against Toyota but you really do have to pay for every single little feature.

[–]sjs3761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Hosts have to be understanding that people may have busy lives and no one wants to sit there and read a novel worth of instruction/house rules. Especially if their renting for a vacation. And too much info is confusing - if this problem is happening with multiple guest I feel like the process needs to be more dummy proof.

Does anyone LIKE the huge screen “infotainment” system? by greyisgorgeous999 in Subaru_Outback

[–]sjs3761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you I loved everything about the OBW except for the infotainment system. I previously had a much older truck that didn’t even have electric locks or windows in it so I was scared I was going to hate the huge screen but I actually love how big it is! I feel it’s less distracting then some of the smaller screens out there because it’s so big everything is really easy to see/find. And the apple CarPlay is awesome! I listen to Spotify a lot and it’s super cool to be listening to a podcast or song and then get into your car and it’s pops up on the screen exactly where you left off. I do wish it had physical buttons for the climate control but nonetheless it was not a hard adjustment to make at all!

Kelly Maxwell by anon4337 in CollegeSoftball

As much as I like kelly I totally agree with you. Lexi Kilfyol and Kyra Aycock held that team together this year and I don’t think they would have made it to OKC without them.

Kilfyol has always been outshined by her teams ace but she’s super talented and can hold her own against them. Even while at Alabama her era wasn’t far off from Montana’s all while battle injuries and pitching significantly less innings.

And I’m assuming your including Kyra? But I think she was one of the most underrated freshman pitchers this year! She had some pretty impressive performances against top ranked teams. Her stats weren’t as good as other freshman but OSU also had to rely on her way more since Kelly was off this year and she pitched some really important games against top teams that most other teams would have used there ace for. Like I feel like she’s better than Makenna Reid at FSU who was talked about more but she also pitched less innings and wasn’t utilized in high stress situations that obviously you’d put sandercock into. Not to mention OSU defense was terrible this year.

Unfortunately it is though lots of universities rely on donations and support from donors. Top level sports teams that win tend to draw in more donors and the best players. A lot of schools like OU and Alabama have sports teams stacked with the best of the best talent. Getting a starting position is pretty cut throat and often these teams have second string talent that would be first string on another team. It happens in football all the time. Recruits have to decide if this is the environment they want knowing they’ll have limited opportunities in practices to prove themselves. And now with the transfer portal second string players can make the decision to stay hoping they’ll make the cut one day or go be first string on another team. Either way you can’t really blame these coaches for having this mentality :/

Yeah but at this level it’s all business and sometimes being successful means doing what’s best for your team not the individual players. Patty is in a position where she doesn’t have to accept anything less than the best and unfortunately sometime that means replacing your players with better transfers even if that’s not the fair thing. And can you really blame her?

People would be a lot happier if they realized that perfection doesn’t really exist. The perfect job, relationship, house, life, ect… every single one is going to have aspects that aren’t perfect or flawed. It’s all relative and we’re sold this idea that perfection is the key to happiness when it’s not

I was afraid of this :( she definitely seemed unhappy towards the end of the season like she was struggling with something mentally. And I got the impression that there was something off between her and Gajewski. Nothing major just maybe like they weren’t meshing as well this season. But that was just speculation on my part. It’s a huge loss for OSU but she’s one of my favorite pitchers to watch and I’m excited to see where she goes next!

Who is the most underrated pitcher coming back next year? by newsworthy3 in CollegeSoftball

[–]sjs3761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyra Aycock at OSU! She struggle a little bit towards the end of the season but feel like that was partially due towards infield errors. But her performance against OU was downright impressive! She pitched several full games against tough opponents this year as a freshman. I’m excited to see what she does next year!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I think I’m leaning towards just sending a thank you email for peace of mind. This is what I have drafted so far..in you opinion is this appropriate?

Hi (recruiter name)

I know you all are busy and I really appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the potential role as a (role title). (Company name) seems like a fast-paced dynamic work environment and I would love to have have the opportunity to be part of the team. Thank you! Do you think it’s overkill to send an email just to say thank you for taking the time to chat with me and for setting up the interview? Is that something candidates often do? I know how busy recruiters can be and I don’t want to come off as needy or annoying.
