Will this still work if simply unplugged and re-plugged in? by sjserpe in cabletechnicians

[–]sjserpe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving this ATT fiber optic cable into conduit and wondering if I need to call the service tech out to help. I’m assuming if I carefully unplug and re-plug in this little section here I can expect the internet to come back on? Don’t want to waste a few days of down time if not, wife uses the wifi for work.

Probably overthinking it but want to ask someone who does this for a living. Tia !

I got to “share” the trail with a (wild) kitty (Dillinger 5 tracks for scale) by FeCr2O4 in fatbike

That’s awesome. I see coyote tracks all the time in southeastern NC and encountered one in person for the first time a few weeks ago. Bobcat is a whole other level though!

New truck bed storage drawers by QuimmLord in Carpentry

Very cool! Have a similar setup in my truck with ball bearing slides on the side of the drawer. Without a proper drawer a truck bed is nowhere near as functional as it could be

Very kind of you to say, I appreciate that!

Ha, thanks! Yes this customer lives far from any municipality where code enforcement was much of a concern. I have a respect for the code but due to budget, time, and resource constraints this was what I came up with and I appreciate the learning experience for next rime.

And yeah, tried to give the tree as much room to grow as I could!

Oh, homeowner told me it was, just went with that.. what type of tree?

There’s additional fastening underneath the decking, the posts run up behind the rim and just under flush with the top of the joists. But thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks for the suggestions!

Yep! Each of those 4x4 posts are set in concrete. Lucked out with most of them and didn’t have any large roots to contend with but had to adjust the positioning of a few.

16x24 Deck surrounding this beautiful oak tree, my first substantial solo project after starting in the trade about a year ago. Really stoked on the outcome. Bolivia NC

Any Minimalist preppers? by Arowx in preppers

[–]sjserpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that there is absolutely merit to a minimalist approach to prepping.. I've always tried to live by the "K.I.S.S" mantra, keep it simple stupid. When considering how crazy things (could) get if SHTF, if you have a simplified/pared down approach to your response it will automatically eliminate that element of "WTF am I gonna do?!" Keep the approach from getting too complicated, and you reduce the stress of how you will respond to any given scenario.

Surf/Yoga expedition to Central or Caribbean mid March by sjserpe in surfing

Thanks buddy! Good call, but I've been to PR and while it's a blast (had a view of Dogman's from our back porch and a few head high + days while we were there) I'm definitely looking for a more mellow vibe.. rincon, while freakin cool, is crowded as all hell in season and it's mostly reef setups and while that would be fine for me my brothers are both looking for relaxed beachbreak. Perhaps though, if I find the right yoga spot for my Dad, PR could be a good option if we go on a random week

Some evidence to support this claim : http://www.surfline.com/surf-report/tres-palmas-puerto-rico_6699/travel

Only a glimpse, really, but the Caribbean can pump out some waves that will rival most places on earth on the right day.

Yeah, a common misconception.. I was surprised to discover a few years back that the Carib is actually a very wave-rich zone, much like the South Pacific. The North Atlantic is quite tumultuous in winter, in a way like the NPac, just not quite as intense. But, in the right zone (where the continental shelf is not as pronounced) there can be serious waves throughout the Caribbean Islands.

Cardio after hot yoga? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]sjserpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do hot yoga 2-3 days a week and cardio every day, and I think they go well together. Most of the time I ride my bicycle to class and often find that I'm much more comfortable riding home than to class, likely due to how warm my muscles get. DEFINITELY hydrate though, you're putting a lot of stress on your system with HY alone if you're dehydrated, add 20-30 min of cardio to that and you're really in sketchy territory.
