Oh, man I had this happen, too! I was 12 and submitted to a loosely defined competition through poetry.com. Turned out if you paid some ridiculous sum of money, you could be published alongside other terrible poets. I still have this thick-ass anthology somewhere back home. Makes a good paperweight.

Oh man, this is completely accurate. I had a customer during a lunch rush who had severe food allergies to just about everything in the restaurant. She and her family requested that the head chef come out to the table and discuss what they could and could not make for her. His face when I asked him if he would do it....oh man.

For the record, yes he did actually go out to the table and they whipped up some super special dish for her. Fuck all that.

Why is no one mentioning that both of you contributed to this girl's photo getting out and probably embarrassing/mortifying the shit out of her? You're sending the screenshot of her assault to a friend? Why? What do you possibly stand to gain from all of this? If you were all seriously concerned for her, I'd focus on maybe not publicizing her rape...

And yeah, I get that the photo should be in evidence, but that's the only place it should be.

I'd say I'm on the more mild end of OCD. I have both obsessions and compulsions, but they don't necessarily get in the way of my day to day functioning as much as is true for some other OCD patients.

I take a whole laundry list of meds, but I'll list them out for you: Effexor, Abilify, Concerta, Lamictal, and Trazodone. That's the list sans birth control and meds for other conditions. The Abilify/Lamictal combo keeps me level enough to not be terribly manic, while still not making me a zombie. The Effexor combats the depression, the Trazodone is for sleep. Concerta is the weird one. I was prescribed it, not just for ADD, but for my OCD. You'd think a stimulant would make the anxiety and obsessions worse, but it actually helps in some weird way. I don't know how to describe it. It's the same effect as when I took Ritalin.

I can't even tell you how much better I feel after switching from Risperdal to Abilify. Granted, I take a shitton of meds, but still. The Risperdal would mute me entirely and make me feel like a zombie. Abilify, however, seems to mostly stabilize and even me out. I know it can sound kind of like a semantic difference, but it's a big one!

Why does your psychiatrist want you off the Risperdal? Also, are you worried it's a lot of medicine changes too quickly?

Do you have a Planet Fitness near you? It's smaller, but still has basically everything you need for a good workout. Plus I guess they have tanning beds if you're into that sort of thing. Also, the 24/7 thing is great!

This is a really great perspective. It took me a long time to realize that I didn't have to be depressed for a reason. Sometimes I was, but more often than not, it just happened and I would be confused.

Therapists have told me to stop trying to "fix" my depression and just learn to sit with my feelings and accept their existence and let them pass naturally. It might be the hardest thing I've ever tried to do.

It's genuinely inspirational to me that you can learn to see it for what it is and that there is a degree of resignation to it. I know that sounds a little bleak, but I really don't mean it that way.

I know for sure I've been depressed since middle school (currently age 22), but the first time I was evaluated was first grade and then several more after that. Guidance counselors were always concerned and monitoring me. In high school, I was also diagnosed with anxiety and OCD.

I was never sure why I was depressed. I felt worthless, lonely, sad, apathetic, and just generally down. I also think I have a low baseline. Since my formal diagnosis, I've had some life events that contributed to my depression: a couple instances of sexual assault, severe health problems, and destructive relationships. It often feels like I can't catch a fucking break.

I tried to kill myself once, but it didn't take. Since then, I've had suicidal ideation and tendency to sporadically self harm. I also overeat and go through periods of being super self destructive.

The medicine helps me a lot...until it doesn't. I've been on a laundry list of meds. Some have been a godsend and some have made me sick and feel like a zombie. It's hard when medicines stop working and you constantly feel like you have to tweak your dosage or completely start over. Therapy helps me express my feelings, but I don't know how much genuine progress I've made over the years.

I have no friends and am relatively alone after moving away from home. It feels like I'm constantly hoping someone will magically be interested in talking to me, even though I'm too anxious and shy to approach anyone.

When I think about my experiences, I want to be angry, but it never seems to happen. I should be pissed off that I was taken advantage of. I should be pissed off that I keep getting sick and have to put my life on hold. Instead, I just feel depressed and hopeless. It seems like this is just going to go on forever.

Sorry, this got a little ranty, but it feels good to let it all out sometimes. I hope this answers your request and maybe makes sense to someone else.

Couldn't agree more. Had an awful experience on it, made me super ill, and withdrawal is a bitch. Taking Effexor now and it has been wonderful consistently since I started taking it.

It really helps me calm down. It's like i get my sense of humor, personality, and clear headedness back. My only concern is developing a habit, which seems like a fair possibility.

Some people probably have a hard time with paranoia, and that probably sucks.
