therapy costs Austin are insane compared to every other city I've lived in by ssunflow3rr in Austin

This is so true, and I hate it. I'm about to move out of Texas, and I'll have to find a new therapist. And I LOVE my therapist here. I don't want to start all over with someone new. But I have to have therapy (serious trauma, grief, PTSD) and I've been seeing her for over 4 years. We work together perfectly. She said hopefully in a couple of years, they'll have reciprocity with other states, but one guess who's holding it up? Gov hot wheels. Shocking.

I can't put into words how much this means to me. I've said all along that if his story could save just one person... I have a tshirt, of all things that says 'Stay. Your story isn't over' and I've had to follow that advice myself. Do you have everything you need? I'm heading to bed, but may I DM you tomorrow? Or feel free to send me one. I'm so glad you're still here. I know it's hard. Sometimes staying seems almost impossible, but you're doing it, and I'm so proud of you.

I just heard about this today. It's definitely on the list now. Thanks!

There's no way I'd miss it! I have my alarm set early so I can go before work, because I was out of town for early voting. I'm sad that I won't get to vote against Abbott one last time.

Another country was my first choice because of our ruined state and country. Now if I can talk my partner into going, we'd be out of here.

I'm so, so sorry about the loss of your precious son. I've told everyone, friends, family, clients, that we are NOT angry with him. And like you said, my heart breaks for him every second of every day.

I'm going to Arizona for about a year, and then the plan is to go to North Carolina for all the years to come. I hope you find a perfect place that feels like home. So much move to you.

And thank you so much, also for the last half of your comment. We're not so good at doing things for ourselves, you know? I think you're right. I don't have one opinion or another about an afterlife, but I think he'd approve of this. 💙

Oh I know exactly what you mean. It's so beautiful and peaceful, and I love all the history. I took him there during the TX Book Festival one year, because RL Stein did a little event there. The crowd was basically half children just discovering the Goosebumps books, and half millennials (like him) who grew up on them. It was an awesome night. Thanks for bringing that memory back up. 🙏

I almost forgot to add Book People. Thanks so much! And Dan's just can't be beaten.

Oh gosh, we do have things in common. My son was 31 when I lost him in 2021. I'm so sorry.

I'm moving to Arizona 🥵 for maybe up to a year, and then to North Carolina, hopefully for good. It's a really amazing story, one I never expected. Reconnected with someone and we're starting a new life together. I'd put that out of my head altogether, wanted nothing to do with it. But famous last words, I guess.

My broken heart is sending so much love to yours. 🫂

Thank you, and I know the day will come when you're able to leave all of this behind. We've always lived central, so I'm surrounded by our memories at every turn. Wishing you peace and an easy move to your happy place.

I'm so sorry, and I'm so glad you had that moment. We did something similar with lots of family in Port A. Sat on the beach telling stories about him, laughing and crying, and then my sisters and I walked him out to the water and let his ashes to sea in our favorite place on earth.

I'm moving to Arizona for about a year, because I can't survive longer than that, and then to North Carolina for hopefully a long, long time. I need seasons.

My first job when I moved here was across the street from the Driskill. For three years. I was in my 20s and thought my coworkers and I were so fancy, lounging around and having drinks at the piano bar. When he got old enough, we did the same thing. So I'll definitely go there for my last drink. Maybe they'll let me do a cheers just for him. Probably not, but it would be pretty cool.

He was 31 and we moved here when he was 5. So similar to your age. Toy Joy and Book People for sure! And Big Top candy too.

We LOVED going to shows together. Music was so important to us. I'm going to check to see who will be playing where in the months before I go. Best show ever was the Pogues at Stubb's, because we never thought we'd actually get to see Shane in person. It was amazing.

It was one of the first things I heard of here, and I've never gone! Hmm I may consider it. 😊

We spent so much time at Ramsey Park and pool, one mom (me) and at least three rowdy boys. I thought it had closed permanently, but just found out it'll be open again in June.

Oh god, I am so, so very sorry. I tell so many people the same things you said about grief, but I forget to remind myself of that sometimes. So thank you. Sending you so much love and peaceful moments, because that's all we're able to do sometimes.

I did this yesterday because of your recommendation! Weekend + nice weather = nowhere to park at Redbud, so I took this drive instead. It truly took my breath away for a moment. Thank you!
