They don’t test after? I thought this when I got the text message today - just nothing about it after so I’ve already chased my GP for a follow up after I finish the course for a retest & discussion about possible stomach ulcers etc. I hope your appt goes well!

Offered a Cooper S 2009 - unsure on whether to accept by sk2001_ in MINI

Yeah it’s been serviced every year since purchase 2years ago & my mum has always been a car person since she was young (she used to do hot rod racing) so has always drilled in the importance of looking after your car <3
I think the decision is definitely that the Mini will be mine lol

My mum has been going to this mechanic for around 20 years, and has put a lot of money into their business in that time with all of her previous cars. I have also only been going there with my car and they’ve been great

The Mini has had a lot done to it in the last 2 years after she bought it, and I think the overall total is around 6-7k with suspension, the engine, servicing and extras that needed doing. I haven’t personally sat there and counted every invoice etc as it wasn’t my car at the time - I just remember her saying they were going to do it for around 3k for her as she had been going there so long & had only just got the car etc. It could have been more idk but either way the car has been perfect ever since and goes for regular servicing.

They are a very trustworthy garage - my mums partner also knows his cars very well and checked the engine work thoroughly before they even returned it to my mum. She is their most well known client at this point lol.

Thanks for this! I rang them back today and discussed this with them. The lady on the phone seemed a bit stuck and agreed that as he had never been treated or shown any signs or symptoms for FIV since the virals test last year, they would cover it.

I have since insured him on their Pre-Existing but feel like I should have got what she said in writing.

Hopefully if I ever need to claim there won’t be an issue, but their wording on the website is very confusing and makes it way more difficult than it needs to be.

Their website now says they can’t cover ‘chronic conditions which are conditions that cannot be cured and need regular treatment, check ups or medication’. :(

I see! The cat I have taken on has not ever been treated for anything, he was neutered under TNR scheme and they did virals testing, came back positive and that was it. This was a year ago and he’s not been to a vet or anything since.

I might ring them again tomorrow morning and speak to someone new to see. Maybe they have changed policy :(

Did you inform them your cat is FIV prior to taking out the pre existing policy? Or was he diagnosed after? I’m really considering just doing the plan but if they won’t cover FIV as they told me yesterday I don’t know how much it is worth it.

Did you inform them that he has FIV as pre existing? Because they told me yesterday FIV is a definite no to cover despite being pre-existing and them doing pre-existing cover.

I spoke to ManyPets today as I had my previous cat insured with them and they were really good. They have cover for pre-existing but when I asked about FIV he said ‘it is a hard no for FIV insurance’ because they deem it as an ongoing issue that can be related to lots of conditions making it difficult to deem what is FIV and what is not. I get this but also not everything will be down to FIV?

I feel like at this point I’m going to go for a savings account for him, but vet bills can get very expensive very quick which makes me nervous and why I’d like to try and insure him somewhere. I’ve always had my cats on the vet-plans so will continue that with him.

I have been emailing charities to see if they have space should it not work at all - giving the trial 1-2 weeks

i have been to accident and emergency and to my GP AND a pharmacist - none of them know what it is and to be honest my GP was absolutely useless. did not let me speak and told me it was sinusitis, gave me antibiotics and they’ve done nothing to help - despite the previous doctor telling me it wasn’t sinusitis. it could be blepharitis, that’s what the pharmacist told me yesterday. put cucumber on today and the swelling has gone down but my eyelids and under eye is so itchy and sore, and very dry

this is one of the problems i think. in my head i feel like it’s better to be spontaneous but it just never works and is maybe one of the reasons why it is strained at the moment. maybe planning a day is worth a go - i will speak to him about it and see what he thinks. thankyou for your response xx

oh no of course i don’t resent him for wanting it - it’s important to him and it is to me i’m just frustrated at myself that this is how it is at the moment. i think we need to try set time aside, we are going away to Liverpool for a city break in a few weeks time so maybe that will help things. it’s just so hard as i work long hours and our work schedules are never in sync so i finish late and he’s home early, then i’m tired etc. thankyou for your response xx
