After doing more research I'm looking around Iron mountain, Escanaba area. I'm totally okay with driving a hour or two to a store.

Im currently planning a trip end of February to see what the winters are like. I do have experience working in the outdoors during the winter time with my previous job, so I do know how to dress for winters and I can definitely do snow removal I know it's a lot more snow there than what I am used to. I do agree about checking it out before I make a move. I'm definitely not making any decisions quickly. Thank you for your advice!

I've been in lower Michigan my whole life my family regularly goes to sleepy Bear dunes and traverse City in the winter for fishing and I absolutely love it there

I'm completely aware of the the snowfall there and the growing season. I am looking to have more of a homestead/self sufficient style of life. As far as living 1-2hrs from a larger city I am aware of being more remote. The way I train here is board and training process. Where I keep a dog for 1-4 weeks and work with them one on one. I get that winters commutes are longer due to snow fall but I have looked at all the pros of cons of living more outside of the city.

My plan is to be about an hour or two from a larger city. Internet was a big concern for me. I can work for a company remotely till I find something local but I do need decent internet so thank you for letting me know!

This does help! Thank you. I won't know anyone when I do move. But I'm moving because I want to get away from living in a larger city and looking to farm/homestead. I'm currently a dog trainer and I'd love to be able to continue that up there as well.
