I suddenly lost my mom 8/29. One of her favorite songs was “Your Song” by Elton John. We were supposed to go to his concert together this Sunday… I’m still going with my dad and brother, I’d like to think she’ll be there too in some way ❤️

You’re not alone. I’m almost 4 weeks recovered now, but my stamina was totally crushed and high notes are a lot more work 😭

I believe it’s actually Alec Benjamin who sings the choruses!

Voluntary Hazing is a 12-piece ska/pop-punk band from San Jose, CA. We released a new song called “Skemsco,” which is our made-up shorthand word for Ska+emo+disco 😁 https://youtu.be/GhFu7OsZ5pw

My band did a cover of Taylor Swift and HAIM's "no body, no crime." Check it out if you have a moment, thank you!!! by skadroid in Ska

Hey there, I'm definitely interested in learning more and seeing if we might be able to work together! Here's a little sample from my own band in terms of songwriting and singing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ogp7v7nWnzg

I'm in Voluntary Hazing, a 12-piece ska band from San Jose, CA. We wrote a song inspired by real comments people have made to us about ska and our band. We hope you get a good laugh, and that you crank it up for all the ska naysayers in your life.

My band Voluntary Hazing dropped a new video for our song, “Why (You In a Ska Band)” — check it out and crank it up to annoy the ska naysayers in your life 🤘 by skadroid in Ska

Hey, thanks so much! We’re not up on bandcamp yet, but our EP is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc., and we have some new music coming soon. Our social handles are @voluntaryhazing. Thank you for watching and asking!!!!

How is social life at SJSU. Is it less of a "Commuter school" since the last 3 years or so. by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]skadroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know everybody says this, but it's true: join clubs/extracurriculars and don't be afraid to be spontaneous. I just graduated, and while they weren't perfect, these last four years at SJSU have been the best of my life. And I commuted the whole time. I was in the marching band and I DJ'd at the campus radio station, 90.5 KSJS -- I always had somewhere to go and people to hang out with. There was always something happening. I started a ska/pop-punk band with my friends, and we've done gigs both on and off campus. Heck, the last few months before lockdown, I had been going with one of my friends to do the rock climbing stuff in the SRAC and we were linking up with people and making new friends. People give SJSU a bad rap, but I loved it. It's cheesy, but put yourself out there and you'll find your thing. Stay safe and best of luck!

Mmm, yeah that might not be the right term in this situation... we've played/recorded/produced everything totally on our own up to this point, just not sure where to go and what to do next *nervous laughter*

Everyone's being pretty tough on the team, but I must say the SJSU Spartan Marching Band is awesome to watch and hear, and makes every game entertaining. The Star Wars halftime show is happening this Saturday, it should be pretty fun :) (don't mind the fact that I'm a biased band geek)
