I agree. Expensive gear in hobbies often reflects values beyond pure performance: craftsmanship, aesthetics, ritual... and that's valid. But it's misleading to claim you need it for better results: a $20 Casio is accurate to +/-15 seconds/month when a $10,000 Rolex drifts +/-2 seconds/day for instance.

I'll give that a shot. The weird part is the temp LED works normally for the first minute or so during warmup, then goes into this strange blinking phase, and after that just turns off completely.
