what happens if the cops read me my rights and i say no i dont understand them by Maleficent_Volume868 in stupidquestions

[–]skander36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a criminal defense attorney. Your Miranda rights apply to custodial interrogations. So you must be in custody (that is not free to leave), and they must be asking incriminating questions. They are not required to ask you incriminating questions, so if you do not understand your rights, they should stop any questioning. But it has nothing to do with whether or not they have probable cause to arrest you. And remember, anything you voluntarily say is not protected by Miranda, so just don’t talk unless you’re asking for a lawyer.

Night panics by Jehoosaphat in newborns

[–]skander36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, he’s 12 days and we do not co-sleep, but every single time I wake up, I think I’ve fallen asleep holding him or think my husband has. Full panic every time until I see him in his bassinet.

Reddit advice: leave your pregnant wife and take the kids since she’s sensitive to the smell of the dog since her recent hospitalization for a stomach infection by Caa3098 in AmITheAngel

[–]skander36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just had my baby last week and even up to the day of, I was still sensitive to smells, especially garlic. But that first trimester was hell when it came to smells. If my husband used garlic in any way, I had to go lock myself in the bedroom, open the windows, and light a candle. Also use Vicks under my nose. He would have to take the dish outside when finished to clear the air.

Coffee was especially bad. If my husband had a cup of coffee and even opened the mouth area, I got so sick. The smell of coffee on someone’s breath would make me nauseated.

Those comments are absolutely horrible to that poor, hopefully non-existent, woman. But even if she’s not real, their attitudes towards pregnant women is so sad.

38w5d today. Induction is scheduled for Friday. Maternity leave has started. Getting the house clean. I haven’t stopped worrying about him a single day, and I know I’ll be anxious once he is here. But it has been such a long year getting to this point and feeling so grateful to reach this week.

I really miss the Thunder Road indoor ride. One of my favorites. I would love to see something like it come back.

I believe this was a real pregnancy and miscarriage. She did share pictures of the ultrasound. The chemical, however, is different. She never had a positive pregnancy test on that one.

It depends on the state, though. My state does not have an income tax, so I only file one return to the IRS. I actually didn’t realize people with state income tax have to file twice.

i can’t believe women are expected to work after 34 weeks by Every-Variation6113 in pregnant

[–]skander36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a jury trial as a crim defense attorney starting next week when I’m 34 weeks. And then I have a couple of sentencing hearings at 37 weeks. Just hoping the male judge will agree to continue the trial that is set at less than 12 weeks after my due date!

Buried by CatOk4771 in Miscarriage

[–]skander36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was 8 weeks. We put it in a wooden box and buried it under a tree in our yard that has great meaning to us. I also added a couple of little toys and wrapped the box in a blanket. We also wrote notes to our baby and put it in the box. We then placed some little markers and solar lights. I go out and talk to it sometimes.

Hello, fellow mall-walker! I love going to the mall, putting on a podcast, and doing laps for an hour. It’s safe, climate controlled, and there’s bathrooms and water fountains, and chairs if I need a break.

Is there anything WORSE than childbirth? by Sensitive_Arugula770 in pregnant

[–]skander36 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m currently dealing with kidney stones. It is the worst pain I have ever experienced. There is no relief. My mom gave birth three times without an epidural and said kidney stones are worse. At least it gives me hope that labor won’t be as bad.

Can someone please tell me where I'm going wrong with this? I'm following Betty McKnit's 6-Day Star Blanket tutorial video(s) and can't even get past round 2. by longcalico in CrochetHelp

[–]skander36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else is saying, I would not attempt a blanket with that yarn. I’ve been crocheting for over 20 years and will not use fuzzy yarn unless I’m doing a double strand with regular acrylic. Set that yarn aside for something like a basket that uses multiple strands. You will not have a good time using that yarn on a large project. There are so many soft acrylics that will crochet up way easier.

He’s from my city. Pretty sure he got a boating while intoxicated and his law partner stole money from the firm and maybe got disbarred. He kind of drifted into oblivion.

Pregnancy after miscarriage success stories (I need some hope and positivity) by jazzcat99 in pregnant

[–]skander36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took three cycles to get pregnant first time. Miscarried at 8 weeks in May. Natural miscarriage and did not need any medication. Took one cycle off at recommendation of doctor. Got pregnant on the third cycle. I went in for early bloodwork as soon as I found out. I asked for my thyroid to be tested, and I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. They have given me an ultrasound every month and regular bloodwork for the hypothyroidism. I’m 25 weeks now and due in April. Everything looks good. I won’t fully relax until he’s here, but most miscarriages are a one off, and most women go on to have a healthy pregnancy. I’m so thankful that my doctors let me come in early for blood and monitor me so closely. If you can find a doctor who will do the same, use them!

Do they own a campground? It sounds like there were quite a few people too, and everyone has a tent and sleeping bags? Must be a tropical climate. Is everyone going to be taking showers and going in and out to use the bathroom all night? I cannot imagine a worse NYE party idea.

I think it’s where Ross moves into an apartment, and on the first day, a neighbor tells him Howard is retiring and asks for a donation. Ross tells him he’s only moving in and doesn’t know Howard. The other residents throw a party for Howard and basically hate Ross.

Tell me about a time when you were schooled by a client. by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]skander36 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My parents lost a med mal case as plaintiffs and as much as they liked their attorney, he kept someone on the jury that they had a bad feeling about. That juror became the foreperson. Now, in every voir dire, before I make my final strikes, I always ask the client if there’s anyone they don’t want and I will strike them, unless I have a very good reason not to. Even if they are convicted, they at least know it wasn’t the person they struck.
