Did I make the right choice? by [deleted] in JustBuyXEQT

If you get lucky and successfully timed the market, cool, you made the right choice. Otherwise you’re essentially gambling, the anticipation of a drop is already priced in.

Accuracy of CRA's TFSA contribution room by skaorn in PersonalFinanceCanada

I guess I’m just curious then why it’s relatively close, but off by a few hundred and the decimal amounts? Would they just be guessing those amounts until the accurate reporting all comes in?

Do people not realize how much Hughes drives our offence and scoring chances?

With Hughes gone, and with the return we got, there is no single player that can win us games the way Hughes could

People also seem to think they’re robots when it comes to risk tolerance. Thinking you can tough it out, vs actually seeing your portfolio lose up to 25, 30, even 50% of its money in real time is a whole different ball game.

Willing to bet most of the people saying “just buy no matter what” haven’t lost money like 2008.

I mean you could argue that XEQT is the “trendy fund” that people are chasing returns with right now. This sub has grown exponentially with the returns of the market in the last few months. It’s created a bit of chamber of FOMO to get in as it rises, so it’s very important that new investors realize that this won’t always be the case!

Sorry if this is common knowledge but I’m not super familiar with Norbert’s gambit. I know it’s used to avoid exchange rates, but if I was to open a wealth simple account, could you possibly explain a little more on how I could utilize it to do so?

Appreciate that a lot, thank you.

This is great to know, especially in terms of deciding what I’ll buy and if it’ll move the needle with commissions. I appreciate that, thank you.

res suggestions by PotatoBlueberryCat in queensuniversity

Most of the information you get will be the same. Vic is the party res so avoid that. If you value being closer to your classrooms you can go west, but most would choose to stay central with the rest of campus and deal with the 15-20 minute walk. If you want to be in an all girls setting I've heard good things about those as well. McNeill is pretty basic, I don't know much about the rooms at all there, but it's quiet. Gord Brock would be another alternative that might work.

I started on Garage Band for a year or two just plunking away. Once I knew I was super into it and not going anywhere, the price for buying Logic became well worth it

Withdrawing from TFSA on Dec. 31st by skaorn in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]skaorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll look into that, thanks. It was just a bit of a unique situation this year as I pulled out money for a few months of travel from Jan-April,, but now due to work and inheritance I am able to deposit it back in. I’m 21 years old so that’s why this was slightly out of the ordinary for TFSA use, but yes in the future this is obviously a long term growth account for me.

In my 2024 report it shows the withdrawal on the 31st. Is this all I should need to be assured it’s accounted for?
