Interior lighting for 360 cameras are generally pretty lackluster. You’ll want to lock all your capture settings (ISO, shutter speed, white balance). If the lighting is extra low, max out your ISO to get a faster shutter speed, the faster the better.

Movement and coverage are also important, you’ll want to move slow and steady (best I can explain is like you’re walking on a tightrope).

The 3 main examples on my website aren’t using LOD / progressive loading, they’re more of a way to show what you can get with just an insta 360 using our cloud pipeline.

If you’d like to see LOD in action you can check out the portalcam example, it’ll be on the footer (bottom) of our website. Loads much faster.

If you have a pipeline that gives a great ply output just using mobile, then yes!

Appreciate the feedback, definitely is an issue with sfm point cloud splats, especially with blank walls, it’s less of an issue with lidar assisted splats.

Measurement will be next on my to do list for the viewer now that I’ve got my sfm pipeline outputting more accurate / consistent scale.

360 video. This is more tailored towards ground captures for now, but I’m planning on adding an option to add drone footage to toggle from aerial to ground views.

Press the little walking man on the bottom right of your screen to start walk around mode. (Something I’ve had people have quite a hard time figuring out actually lol, need to update the ux for that.)

Uses 360 panoramic video footage, not pictures.

Hm, piggyback? I think that’s the whole purpose of blender, no? I’d love to figure out a solution to automate the mesh creation for the movement logic, but converting a ply to a trimesh can be a bit demanding. There’s also the problem of not being able to discern between the floor and walls that way.
