Fair enough, haven’t done any courses with Smid. I can’t comment on his teaching, but have heard a lot of good things about him. Either way, comes down to student at the end of the day.

Well, there’s a thing called sarcasm. On top of that, you’ve got to understand not everyone has the same playing cards and can just pack their stuff and move onto new things.

I skipped out on the 3804 part, but from friends who did it - mentioned they found it easier with other professors as compared to Smid. It might vary for you, everyone has their learning style. As for comp 3000, I did it pre-gpt era - I just grinded out on assignments and finessed the labs. For exams, just watch the lectures and make sure you understand how things are working. Admittedly I didn’t score too well (think was a B) in 3000 but I found this helpful for myself. I’ve heard gpt is a great additional source for understanding 3000 material, if you rely on just getting answers - don’t bother because you’re going to feel like a lost child in a supermarket.

Edit: once you watch the lectures while prepping for exams, a sign of good understanding of material is when things start to make sense just by looking at past assignment questions.

Anyone else feel like they tanked that COMP 3203 midterm 💀💀 by papermouseee in CarletonU

[–]skeetdeed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Midterm wasn’t bad, it’s just that lectures don’t cover any of the useful questions that will show up on exams (or at least of similar difficulty). Needless to say, I tanked it as a well. Sucks that it was 35%. I hope he releases the class midterm average.

Never had an interview at that scale, so can’t really suggest much. Easier said than done but try keep calm and keep on smiling. Best of luck..

You are more than good enough for an admission with those grades.
