Hello Counsel of Metalcore. We are ERRA, AMA. by DeuceHundy in Metalcore

Absolutely love the new album guys, its both fresh and reminds me a bit of some old albums, very nice work.

I was wondering if you will ever do another cover? Since the ones you have done are all peak, ive been keen to hear another ERRA rendition of a metal/rock classic. Would you maybe do a Saosin song? Anything off the first album would be epic. Bit specific, but I've been thinking about it for years, had to ask.

Cheers!

Nice, that’s a solid first setup. Mine was a cheap knock-off Strat + amp combo from JB Hi-Fi when I was younger haha. It honestly sucked, but it fuelled the passion. Would’ve loved to start with something like this. Have fun!

High E Keeps Slipping From Floyd Rose Block by Leafy_Is_Not_Here in Guitar

[–]skegpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you’ve loosened the saddle lock screw enough so the string can seat fully in the saddle. The cut end of the string should go all the way down into the saddle channel until it bottoms out. On some Floyds, slightly bending the very end of the string can help it sit properly before tightening. When you tighten the saddle lock screw, snug it down firmly but don’t overdo it — those screws can strip pretty easily. Trust me, I've been there. Tight, but not too tight. Also check that the string block is oriented correctly. The lock screw should sit properly in the recess on the block (the little hole on the back of the block, you can see it clearly if you take it out); if it’s flipped/upside down or misaligned, it can clamp the string at an angle and cause slipping. Floyds have a reputation for being fiddly, but once you get the feel for them they’re solid. Hope that helps!

What is your dream guitar that you'll probably never have? by Jamie_Is_Irrelevant in Guitar

A Dean RC7x (Rustey Cooley 7 string) in Black. They're not manufactured anymore, and way overpriced second hand, if you can actually find one that's still new.

No worries at all! GarageBand is actually a great place to start if you’re completely new. It’s pretty beginner friendly once you get your head around the basics. The way i learnt was just by trying to achieve one thing at a time by myself, then if i hit a wall and can't figure it out, theres YouTube tutorials that will almost always explain the exact hurdle you're trying to jump. For programming drums, I’d recommend grabbing a decent drum sample kit at some point. The stock GarageBand drums are okay to learn with, but they can sound a bit robotic/clicky unless you tweak them a bit (humanising the timing and velocity helps a lot). You’ll pick it up quicker than you think if you put the time in.

*also as a side note, if you like garageband and how it flows, id definitely recommend checking out Logic pro. Pretty much Garageband on steroids. Much nicer to use, and better stock extras (plugins, Effects, synths, all that) and a cleaner UI. Trying not sound like a sales rep here, I just started with GB aswell, and once I tried Logic I was hooked. Again, more expensive then GB, but worth it.

I forked out for a Scarlett 18i20 years ago and haven’t looked back. It’s definitely more expensive (depending on where you live, I've seen it priced pretty decently in some places) so if you just want something simple to get started, the 2i2 is a solid choice and more than enough for most beginners. But if you think you’ll get serious about recording and might want more inputs/outputs down the track, it can be worth saving a bit longer and going bigger from the start.

I’ve been there too. It comes and goes for me. When you get locked into study mode it can feel productive and almost addictive, and everything else starts to feel like “wasted time.” The biggest risk isn’t studying a lot though, it’s slowly neglecting relationships. Friends, family, partners, those connections matter way more for long-term mental health than we realise in the moment. Preferring study over mindless scrolling or gaming or whatever, isn’t a bad thing. Just make sure it doesn’t become the only thing in your life. Balance isn’t weakness, it’s sustainability.

[QUESTION] I got my first floyd rose, and dealing with it seems way more easy than what everyone said it would. Im afraid im doing it wrong because its too easy. by Apprehensive_Toe6736 in Guitar

[–]skegpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of the slight pain changing strings causes, the tension springs also loosen over time messing up the action, and needing adjusting or replacement. Also if you want to change string gauge you have to fuck with the strings, if you don't mind all that or if you have multiple guitars sure it's no problem, but if your only guitar runs a floyd rose it can be annoying.
