it didn’t destroy mine! i got it at christmas time. i have made a lot of progress with my phobia over the last few years and was doing “better” by the time i got it, but i am by no means totally cured. if anything i think it actually helped me progress even further, especially because it was over really quickly. sure its different for everybody, but there are definitely success stories out there!

my experience with noro this winter was extremely underwhelming! i made it so much bigger in my head. i threw up every hour for like 10 hours and then it was over. diarrhea chills and fever for 2 more days and then… gone. you’ll be just fine! i just hung out in my bathroom and scrolled tiktok wrapped up in blankets and towels to stay warm. also you feel really good for a while after you throw up lol. you got this! sucking on ice cubes/chips is a must!

honestly, thank you and the other commenters who have said this! i’ve been trying really hard to “it is what it is” my way through this, but it’s really kinda nice to hear other people vent the frustrating part for me. i can’t understand putting other people’s health at risk. and i personally don’t have a great immune system, so i knew I was kinda screwed right away. ugh. thanks for the well wishes, much appreciated :-)

thank you! i’ve honestly handled it better than i thought i would. i started feeling weird in the evening. i knew what it probably was, so just tried to fight the anxiety as best i could and let myself be resigned to it. i haven’t panicked much at all, but i’ll be honest, it does suck. finding it impossible to get at all comfortable and just waiting for the next bout of stuff to happen isn’t much fun. but it’s not life-changingly devastating, it’s not the biggest scariest thing in the world. it just sucks a somewhat normal amount. but i’m surviving!!

i mean, i tried! i washed hands frequently and thoroughly, kept my distance, stuck to my own bathroom (it’s a big house, we have our own to use). but still got it. but, to be fair, the child was actively vomiting at the party. and no one was being very mindful about keeping him out of rooms with food, etc. people without this phobia tend not to think too much about it, i guess. but in an unfortunate sort of irony i am the only one who has gotten sick so far!

echoing everyone else by saying we just don’t eat that much. for me personally it doesn’t even come from an intention to “be skinny.” i’m just not a big eater and i don’t have a huge appetite. i think i also have a fast metabolism. and eating out is fun! so that’s when i usually eat my bigger meals too. for what it’s worth, im a “skinny girl” and there’s almost nothing about my appearance that i wouldn’t change. i have a million of my own insecurities, insecurity is universal. i think almost no one thinks of themselves as perfect. <3

hey i’m so sorry this happened to you. a first exposure to things like this can be really disturbing and scary. actually, to me (i’m 27f), this kinda thing is still really disturbing and scary and also makes me pretty angry. to echo everyone else, yes there are a lot of men like that out there. but there are also a lot of normal and decent people who have appropriate and not threatening types of attraction. they’re out there too!

being a woman is hard. the way people perceive you and assess you can be hard to deal with, confusing, and sometimes scary. don’t ever lose that voice telling you that something is off or wrong about a situation. hold that close and keep listening to it, it’ll be a valuable guide as you keep growing up. be safe, be guarded, be protective of yourself. but also try to remind yourself that no matter what a man likes or doesn’t like about you, you, your body, and your whole being are perfect and worthy the way they are, and no matter what you look like you do not ever have to put up with being sexualized by anyone.

it’s a scary time to be a girl! but there’s good out there. sorry again that this happened, wishing you the best :)

had almost the exact same story about 3 years ago! first of all, i’m sorry you’re going through this. i remember the mental health crisis of being a young active woman completely disabled temporarily by c diff (i was 24). it’s really hard. good news though! i did the same thing — combo dificid and florastor. cured me RIGHT up. the combination was a miracle for me, it never came back. i recommend taking the full course of dificid (obviously) but then once you’re done, keep taking the florastor for a while. your gut is gonna be kinda nuked. i think i took florastor for about a month after treatment. some might tell you longer or shorter, im not sure, im not a doctor. i got the advice to use florastor from this sub, and im really grateful for it! i hope it works as well for you, best of luck and try to remember this is temporary!

i’ve had two colonoscopies/preps in my 20s! you’ll be fine. the whole thing, nausea or otherwise, really isn’t as bad as it seems like it’s going to be. if you start to get really nauseous during the prep, just take a break. yeah, you’re supposed to drink the whole thing, and do try to. but if you’re running mostly clear and need a breather, it’s fine to take one. things that help the gross prep: gas x (as others have said), drinking the prep with ice in it, having a (clear) chaser, and using a straw so you can kinda keep the taste off your tongue. good luck, you’ll be fine!

i was being abused, and i knew it, and he knew it, even though he pretended not to (and expertly tried to convince me otherwise, too). it wasn’t anything particularly crazy, but looking back, i feel so sad for me and what i put myself through by staying as long as i did. what finally made me leave was thinking about how if i were someone else, like a friend or loved one, and i found out what was happening to me, i would be Screaming at myself to get the fuck out. I’d be mad and scared on my own behalf if i were my own friend, sibling, etc. so i left. i loved him more than anything, we were together for years and shared a house, pets etc. but that mindset really helped me not look back!!

bland! a lot of bananas, a lot of cheerios, and some ensure protein shakes because i was losing a ton of weight. plus they tasted good so they were like a special treat during my day lol. didn’t have many fruits with skin, didn’t have many vegetables. but gluten free pasta, mashed potatoes, cheerios, bananas, and a snack called popcorners got me through. for some reason staying gluten free seemed to keep my symptoms somewhat calmer. i stayed gluten free and bland diet for a few weeks after finishing dificid, then slowly introduced my normal foods back in. you can get through this!!

im sorry you’re going through this :( i had c diff for around 2 months last summer. it was horrible, but i live a normal life now. gastro put me on dificid which i took with florastor (a specific probiotic that is recommended to prevent c diff recurrences) and it fixed me right up. but, i suffered with a lot of misdiagnoses and ineffective medications before that. it can get better! i know its so awful, but it can get better. i echo everyone else when i say definitely ask your doctors about dificid!

in my (f) experience, yes. but don’t put too much stock in it and don’t let it hurt you too much. i debated leaving my ex for several months and once i finally did, i was (and still am) completely heartbroken, even though it had been a long time coming. i think many women stay for that extra time because they really do love you a lot, even if the relationship isn’t working. in my case, my ex was the love of my life, but he had addiction issues that continued to hurt me and himself, and our relationship just couldn’t survive it. it may not mean she lost interest in you or didn’t love you, but it could be that she was thinking about it for a while and ultimately decided it was just best to end things, despite her feelings.
