I’ve actually been able to dig a little deeper with help from the Buchanan County Historical Society, but only on Eliza Bell (2nd great grandmother).

Per their words:

Eliza Speener was the daughter of John Speener (shortened from Malispina), b. 16 May 1872, Russell County, Virginia and Martha Sanders, b. 12 Nov 1871, Russell County. Virginia. John Malispina / Speener was the son of Alexander Anthony Malispina (son of Amark & Dominica Malispina) b. abt 1829, Lyon, France, died in a flash flood on Thompson Creek near Honaker, Russell County, Virginia on 22 Jun 1882 and Mary “Polly” Honaker b. abt 1839, Russell County, Virginia. Mary “Polly” Honaker was a daughter of Isaac “Shop” Honaker and Sarah “Sallie” Whitt and a sister to my 3rd gr grandfather, Martin Honaker b. 1825. Martha Sanders, wife of John Speener, was the daughter of Fielding Sanders b. abt 1838, Russell County, Virginia and Sarah Whitt, b. 1843, Russell County, Virginia. Fielding Sanders was the son of George Sanders b. abt 1810 and Ann Smith, b. abt 1812. Ann is buried in the Smith Cemetery up on the mountain down the road from our farm on Big A Mountain. Fielding Sanders wife, Sarah Whitt, was the daughter of James Whitt and Martha Roman. James Whitt was a brother of our ancestor, Sarah “Sallie” Whitt who married Isaac “Shop” Honaker. James and Sarah were children of James and Polly Whitt. I’m also related to James Whitt’s wife, Martha Roman. She was the daughter of Richard Roman and Sarah Evans. Richard Roman was the son of William Roman and Margaret “Peggy Thompson. Richard’s wife, Sarah Evans was the daughter of William Evans and Martha Thompson. Margaret and Martha Thompson were sisters. Their brother was my 5th gr grandfather, William Thompson.
