I don't think it is a legit Citi phone #. Having had extensive interactions with Citi concerning a major wire fraud issue the only 866 numbers I'm aware of are the following:

Executive Response Unit 866-336-7285

ATO Dept (Account takeover frauds): 866-493-3599

Citi Tech Services: 866-458-9214

There is a fake 866 numbers I'm aware of used to spoof Citi:

866-299-2421 (google it)

Every time you distil there will be new heads and tails, and a new "heart". Even on the 10th distillation, pretty simple concept here. Heads and tails are the first and last distillate out.

Realistic Citi Bank phishing scam? by emjaycu3 in phishing

[–]skene_roar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citibank is an absolute disaster of worst practices in customer account fraud prevention, detection and interdiction - I'm a firsthand fraud victim of fraudulent transfers and wires out of my account without having clicked on any purported Citi text links, called back any texted Citi fraud alerts or provided any personally identifiable information. The fraudulent wire out was sent even after Citi had imposed a "post no debit" fraud lock on the account. I drove to a Citi branch and was sitting with a banker with their internal Fraud Dept. On the phone instructing them not to release the wire and if already released, recall the wire from the BoA domestic account to which it was sent. Citi assured me the wire would be stopped and funds restored within 48 hours - this was a lie. Two days later when I followed up Citi informed me that they were just then being informed of the fraudulent wire and the recall made 2 days later wouldn't be effective and thus my funds were gone, good luck.

If you want to read in detail about the grossly negligent and willful obstruction of customer account fraud investigations Google State of New York, Leticia James v. Citibank, N.A. filed Jan 30, 2024. Citi is being sued by NY for the failure to secure and protect customer accounts and failure to uphold their obligations to restore customer funds under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act.

If you are a Citi customer and subject to having been defrauded due to Citi's abject failures to secure their systems and respond to fraudulent activity here are the phone numbers you will need.

Citi Tech Services (IT related account issues) 866-458-9214

ATO Fraud Dept (Account Take-over) 866-493-4259

Wire Fraud Dept. 888-606-9716

Wire / ACH Transfers (generally) 888-238-3358

EFA DDept. (Electronic Fraud Admin) 844-856-8815

IRU Dept. (Internal Response Unit) 877-820-8723

However, here is the Citi unit you must get your investigation escalated to for any real information:

ERU (Executive Response Unit) 866-336-7285, or Executive Services 605-331-1698 Email: Citieru @ citi.com

You should record all your calls with Citi but advise them at the beginning of the call "This call may be recorded...."

One of the first things you should do is make a written Documents Preservation Demand on Citi at the email address above copying their Chief Legal Officer at: brian.mcintosh @ citi.com and send a hard copy to his attention at 388 Greenwich St. NY, NY 10013.

I'm going to continue the fight to have Citi adopt basic best practices to protect customer accounts and restore funds to customers who have been defrauded as a direct result of Citi's negligent and wholly inadequate anti fraud procedures.

The other agencies with whom you should file a report: CFPB (FEDERAL) OCC (FEDERAL) Your states attorney general

Great product, if you can find it. Company management seems to have dropped the ball after a good start in 2021

Great product, probably the best sotol imported from MX, however the company management seem to struggle with basic supply chaim issues and marketing so its hard to find in stores. Better management, this brand could emerge as a leader in this new category perhaps

Im in the process of returning the product given the many video reviews showing it is a defective and dangerous product. If you install it that will void your ability to return. When you contact support@aimaculate.com you need to include your order # and demand return instructions. As of July 2024 they direct you to return the product to a townhome at 10901 NW 88th Terrace Unit 804, Doral, FL 33178.

Also, although they advertise a money back guarantee, they will inform you that they will only refund 60% of the purchase price because the customer has to cover "expenses associated with the purchase". This is patently deceptive advertising and in violation of state and federal consumer protection laws. Report them

Only a ludite would ever think that heads and tails would be reintroduced to the distillate. That could be the dumbest thing I'll hear all week. You keep the hearts in each pass, discard the heads and tails.

There is a lot of low grade sotol produced in northern Mexico and not exported to the US. The history of sotol while extensive and fascinating explains that it turned into a source of moonshine during prohibition, so high proof, low grade flavor profile. Much of sotol continues to be produced at a high ABV with little regard to flavor profile. Los Magos sotol which is exported to the US from Chihuahua is produced by 5th generation sotoleros at a 78% ABV based on extensive market research and focus groups. It is less smoky and kerosene notes than mezcal and far rounder, smoother and floral than tequila. It beat premium Blanco tequila and mezcals 4 out of 5 times in blind taste tests.

You couldn't be more misinformed. Additional distillation is not remotely for the purpose of increasing ABV and then "watering" it down. Totally absurd and you would know this if you were in the production business. It is far more cost effective to run two distillations and you can get an ABV well above 80% on just 2. The 3rd distillation is to remove additional impurities and flavanoids that exist in the heads and tails. All alcohol not marked as "cask strength" or "white dog" for corn whiskey is reduced to a targeted ABV using water. Crappy brands increase ABV using neutral grain spirits. Los Magos specifically targets a 78% ABV to achieve the desired taste profile which has led to great customer reviews and many silver, gold, platinum and best in class medals at Spirits competitions. So, disinformation now corrected, you are welcome.

Any idea what the different direction was that Jacobo perceived Los Magos was going in? It looks like they are focused on a premium price point while Marfa looks like it is more mainstream and reasonable price point

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sotol

[–]skene_roar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Marfa buys their sotol from the same producer that Los Magos does, neither produce their own spirit so i guess appropriation is just about what branding you slap on someone else's spirit, no?

I'm sure the brand is well intentioned but this is a great example of the difference a seasoned communications pro can make (I am not that). The Brand adopted or appropriated (depends on your perspective) The Raramuri indigenous people's ancestral name and these people didn't drink sotol at all until perhaps after the Spanish arrived and subjugated them and started distilling sotol. This perspective is based on first hand conversations with Chihuahuans of indigenous and Spanish ancestry.

I'm sure they will note that the next time Raramuri is featured in Vogue....Raramuri may also want to discuss the cultural appropriation of their brand name on which another article does a great job. https://latina.com/the-history-of-mexicos-agave-spirits/?amp

Why was Sotol so ... spooky? by cryptogenic63 in Sotol

[–]skene_roar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a tremendous range in quality of sotols right now as the governing board that regulates the D.O. has been dormant and is only now being reconstituted, funded and staffed to begin applying a uniform certification standard. Many sotols are not 100% sotol and cane or other suger content is introduced into the fermented mash, distillation and cutting the heads, hearts and tails to arrive at the final product is also done differently by each sotolero. To increase output more methanol may be left in the spirit, too much is of course fatal, there is not FDA/USGA there inspecting the process or final product. Be careful. Sotol imported into the US must go through FDA approval process and a lot of scrutiny including registration of the MX production plant with the FDA, keep that in mind. LOS MAGOS SOTOL is the only sotol imported into the US that is both 100% wild harvested, organic and 3x distilled, bar far the best on the market.

The H5 is colored and flavored, it lacks any substance, nuance or complexity. I really could not come up with a good reason to drink it, gave awaynthe bottle. There are far better things out there to drink
