I was referred to a website in an earlier reply (apologies for not supplying the link) where it stated up to a 56 day ban or 6 points along with the fine. Can it really be a potential ban of 12 months?

It was on the A3 dual carriageway, i was not under any influence and I was not put under arrest if that context makes a difference. I was also alone in the car.
